Dave Grohl's Open Letter To Metallica

Former Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has released the following "open letter" to Metallica:

"Dear Metallica,

"Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album 'Kill 'Em All' from a mailorder catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can't remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I've been listening to your albums ever since (even 'St Anger'!).

"I can't wait to hear the new shit, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I'm sure you'll come out and blow everybody's fuckin' minds, because you're fuckin' Metallica!

"Good luck. And don't release it until it's kick-ass.

"Yours, Dave Grohl.

"P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet?"

omgz, i so agree with everyone that Dave Grohl should be in MetallicA!!!!11 Herman Li is faster at guitar than Kirk, so he should be in the band too! Mariah Carey is a better singer than James, so I guess you're out of a job, Hetfield! They need to get Flea on bass too, right?

STOP BEING SILLY! Sure, Lars isn't the best drummer in the world, but he's pretty bloody amazing nonetheless, and more importantly, he suits Metallica perfectly. AC/DC have about as basic a rhythm section as you can get, and you might have noticed that they're one of the greatest bands of all time.

Decadence is one of the things that is making modern metal pretty boring. Everyone has to play the fastest and most complex beat/bassline/solo that they possibly can, and that equals ludicrous fills, unnecessary slapping and ridiculous sweep-picking. Here's an idea - write a good song, not just a complex one?
