Editors Promise Sober Brits Awards

The Editors have promised not to get too squiffy at next month’s Brit Awards, as they’re starting their new tour the following day.

Singer Tom Smith has proved he and his band are ever the consummate professionals by vowing to stay relatively sober at the usually boozy industry bash.

“But we start the Irish and UK tour the day after - and that's going to be an early morning start. So we can't get too drunk - which is a shame - but we'll certainly enjoy ourselves," he tells the Daily Star.

As his bandmates told us this week, Smith certainly isn’t expecting having to raise a glass in celebration at winning the Best British Group gong.

“We don't actually mind going up against pop acts like Girls Aloud and Take That - fair play to them, they're good at what they do. I think Kaiser Chiefs will win it, though. They really are a great band,” he opines.

Editors annoy me. He just impersonates Ian Curtis when he sings. And I swear they've used the same guitar line twice in two different singles.

my friend just got me to go to their show in NYC at Terminal 5. I just wanted to go for hot hot heat, but these guys were pretty good live. I think he sounds like paul banks from interpol.

and now the kaiser chiefs are going to have a statement bashing the editors and other bands who say they are good because complimenting other bands is so cliche and not cool. and how no one needs to validate their (the kaiser chiefs) success for them, because they now how good they are. and how every other band in the world is sh1t compared to them, and everyone is the same. except for them! they're so against the grain and unique that we should all splooge everytime we hear their music. but don't get too excited about them, because that's uncool. and they would mock you for it....

...I thought this was from the editors of Brits Awards or something. Never heard of a band called Editors. Honestly, this is on the front page of a world-wide guitar site? Maybe if they were internationally famous and known for their drinking.

I don't really think of editors as being a boozy band, A raucous night a the brits for them would have probably been composed of a few Lemon Shandys.

I saw them with Louis XIV on Saturday, and I was impressed. I bought the CD a while back after hearing Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors, but I didn't really care for it. Having seen them live, though, I'm getting more into it. They were the loudest band I've ever seen. The sound went through you so much it was almost unenjoyable.

they are such a bland indie band. they have the potential for radiohead esque greatness but they dont fulfill it
