's ex-drummer David Silveria
briefly addressed the band's latest single
" via Facebook, stating that even without hearing the track he is more than "sure it's not funky and groovy like the original Korn."
A short post
turned into a lengthy discussion with some of the fans, as Silveria claimed that the current Korn lineup lacks groove, something he could supposedly bring back with his playing.
The stickman didn't hesitate to give his opinion on the group's current drummer Ray Luzier
, saying, "I am a funky groove drummer and Ray is a heavy metal drummer. That's why Korn will never sound as unique as we used to."
"Korn lost their groove,"
Silveria once again noted, pointing out that he has no intention of spitting blood at his former bandmates.
"I'm not talking crap on Korn,"
he said. "I'm just saying until they have the real 'funky drummer' it's just not gonna groove the way it could. I've made it clear that I would come back and restore the groove."
In his most elaborate response, the drummer gave a detailed story of the group's early days, underlining the importance of his efforts back in the day and taking credit for bringing singer Jonathan Davis
into the fold.
"None of them want to admit it was me,"
Silveria said. "Head wasn't even in the band yet. I also drove my van to Bakersfield from Huntington Beach and picked up Jon and his stuff, moved him in the house I lived in and paid his rent while he looked for a job. I also got in a huge fight with Munky because I wanted to bring in Head so we could have two guitarist and Munky didn't want another one."
He continued, "I finally got him to agree to try it with Head and that's all it took. He knew it was meant to be. I was also the one that got our managers that have managed the band since 1994. There are a lot of things I did for the band that they don't like to admit I did."
In his latest post, Silveria announced that tomorrow he'll be posting a detailed explanation on "why the Korn sound changed so much after 'Follow the Leader' and why I started losing the passion that made the first three records so amazing."
The stickman once again stressed that bashing Korn will not be his goal, promising the fans an interesting read. More info coming soon.
