Fred Durst Goes Country For Yoakam

artist: limp bizkit date: 08/30/2007 category: general music news

Fred Durst is going behind the camera to help out country crooner Dwight Yoakam. The Limp Bizkit bad-boy is directing Yoakam's new video for 'Close Up the Honky Tonks,' the first single from 'Dwight Sings Buck' -- a new tribute album to the late Buck Owens.

The pairing was Yoakam's idea after seeing the Durst-directed fim, 'The Education of Charlie Banks.' "I was so blown away that I called my manager and said, 'I think Fred Durst should maybe direct my video,'" Yoakam tells Nashville's Tennessean newspaper. "She said, 'Whaaa ....?'"

Yoakam admits it may seem like an unlikely pairing, but he insists it's actually quite logical. "As much as there is a whiplash effect of Fred Durst doing a Dwight Yoakam video on the surface, if you go just beyond that, it will make sense," he tells the Tennessean. "It certainly did to the two of us once we met."

Yoakam and Durst have since become fast friends, with the country star now signed on to star in a future film directed by the rocker/fimmaker. Yoakam has acted in several movies including 'Wedding Crashers' and 'Panic Room.'

Article failed to mention Dwight's staring film, Sling Blade, for whatever reason.

But if Dwight see's something good in Durst then I'm all for it. Dwight will always make great records.

Fred Durst seems like one of those guys who talks in the third person, most likely refering to himself as "the durst"...

Better fred directing country music videos than making new music with Limp, lol. I do kinda wonder what his new stuff sounds like for some reason.

No..."Girl you taught me how to hurt real bad..." song.

(the one you're thinking of is George Thorogood)

Dwight Yoakam is an amazing guitar player. Zakk Wylde was talking about him in an interview a while back. And I doubt even Fred Durst's directing could ruin a Dwight song

should be nearly 100%

Don't label him a bad director cause he was all intro this "I'm a big rockstar mehe I has so much maney"-thing. Thats over, if you have heard Limp Bizkits newest album "The Unquestionable Truth Part 1"(Fred didn't want any promotion time) you would agree he's much more down-to-earth now. AND he's an good director, go watch "Education of Charlie Banks". Bizkit is currently working on their next album, I can tell you going to kill all this kindergarden shit that they sold 30 millions of

fred durst has plenty goin for and he wouldnt have it like this if he hadnt done so many things right, to say he never made it is simply ignorance, epecially considering significant other, their second major release, went platnum 7 times and had songs like break stuff that were on top of charts for weeks on end. his stuff lasted longer then then most current artists major singles do now. he also knew how to take control of things, although sorta manichle, he did do it, and profited major off of it. he is a genius to some degree, especially if he started out as a mere tattoo artist doing side gigs with friends.
