Free Dr Pepper For Everyone!

Many wondered if Dr Pepper would hold up to their end of the bargain when they announced earlier this year that they would give everyone in America a free Dr Pepper (excluding former Guns N’ Roses guitarists Slash and Buckethead) if Axl Rose managed to release the long-delayed Chinese Democracy sometime in 2008.

Well, with the album currently scheduled for a November 23 release, Dr Pepper issued the following statement:

"Don't cry, Guns N' Roses fans. The agonizing wait for the 17 years-in-the-making masterpiece Chinese Democracy will finally be over (fingers crossed) on Nov. 23, 2008. Sure, there have been more rumored release dates than the 23 flavors of Dr Pepper, but if Chinese Democracy hits stores as announced today, it's going to be so easy, easy for every American to get a free Dr Pepper as promised.

"We never thought this day would come," said Tony Jacobs, vice president of marketing for Dr Pepper. "But now that it's here all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us." Dr Pepper is ready to give out free soda coupons to every American when the album releases on Nov. 23, 2008. If you're out to get a free Dr Pepper just follow these simple steps:

How To Get Your Free Dr Pepper:

1. On the Nov. 23, 2008 release date, go to Drpepper.com
2. Register your information to receive a coupon for one free 20-oz. Dr Pepper.
3. When your coupon arrives, redeem it wherever Dr Pepper is sold.
4. Drink your Dr Pepper slowly to experience all 23 flavors. Dr's orders.

The funny thing is Slash didn't actually quit Guns n Roses...sure he quit the old one, but this is an entirely new band (Axl just bought the rights to use Guns n Roses as the name for his band) and Slash just didn't want to join, because he would've had no creative control. If you haven't already guessed, yeah I read Slash's autobiography lol awesome book :P

On topic- I don't even like Dr.Pepper, but as a Brit, I would be prepared to go out and buy one on the 23rd purely to give kudos to them for being epically awesome and living up to their promise. Hopefully the album will be good though!!!

How many years has Axl been working on this? It's over fifteen I think... I'm not a fan of GnR because Axle's voice pisses me off (Slash is a badass though) but there's still something kind of sad about how people are foreward to a free soda more than a an album almost two decades in making. Dr. Pepper is smart to send people to their website because it'll probably crash pretty hard from millions trying to access it. Nobody gets to save a 1.50 on soda not that many people drink and not that many will buy the album because it's only at Best Buy or dosn't care. As far as the topic goes, Dr. Pepper is gross, and the new album is a complete pile of garbage, GnR hasn't been GnR since everyone left and Axl just kept the name. He doesn't even use his vocal range on this album, just stuck in the high-pitched whiny range the entire time.

It seems to be the growing trend now with the release of albums, AC/DC at Wal-Mart, GnR at Best Buy. Its like the release of a movie, everything must be "brought to you by..." I won't be suprised if there is a song on there about the refreshing 23 flavors of Dr Pepper.

No, they said they'd do it awhile ago as a joke, making fun of GnR for delaying the album so many times. They're living up to what they said, it has nothing to do with sales. Although if you want to get really deep, it has a lot to do with sales, the fact that Dr. Pepper is going to go through with this will gain them a lot of respect and probably a lot of customers, even if only for that one day(how many people are really going to go to a store for only one ****ing soda?)
Dr. Pepper and GnR aren't linked at all, from what I remeber anyways so it's nothing like certain things only being sold at certain stores or being sponsored by certain companies.
