Peter Gabriel says he knows exactly what it would take to reunite him with his former Genesis bandmates: "a large brown envelope".
Gabriel made the admission on New York radio station Q104.3, and confirmed that several "great offers" had been made to get the band back together, but it appears that no envelope to date has quite met his expectations.
Gabriel said he would be open to the idea of playing a reunion show for a good cause, citing the 2007
Led Zeppelin reunion in honor of
Ahmet Ertegün as an example of how to do it right.
Gabriel’s latest album is "New Blood", which features rearrangements of 14 of his biggest solo hits with a 46-piece orchestra. Tracks include "Digging In The Dirt", "Don't Give Up", "Downside Up", "Intruder", "Mercy Street", "The Rhythm Of The Heat" and "San Jacinto". "New Blood" is a continuation of his 2010 album "Scratch My Back", which featured orchestra-assisted reinterpretations of songs by acts including David Bowie, Elbow, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, Lou Reed, Radiohead, Paul Simon and Talking Heads.
