Godsmack's 'Hangover' Is A Hit

Godsmack capped its acclaimed tour with Mötley Crüe in style this past week, scoring fifth No. 1 single at Active Rock, notching the coveted top spot at Active Rock and the Mediabase format with the band's first single in nearly three years, "Whiskey Hangover". The song was released sans-album, a special gift to fans in celebration of the band's acclaimed live slot on this one of this summer's hottest rock tours. The tour finally wound down on September 5 in Darien Lake, New York, with critics like 411Mania.com hailing both the tour and "Whiskey Hangover" as vintage Godsmack: "'Hangover' is a welcome return to the band's well-established sound. Powerful…"

The new song arrived in mid-June as the first "sanctioned" Godsmack offering since the band's widely acclaimed greatest-hits package, "Good Times Bad Times - Ten Years Of Godsmack", was delivered to fans at the end of 2007. "Whiskey Hangover" reigns as a record-breaking 17th Top 10 single for the Boston band, extending Godsmack's ownership of the most Top 10 hits in active rock history.

The next Godsmack album will be the band's first collection of all-new material since 2006's "IV".

After Godsmack released "Good Times, Bad Times - Ten Years Of Godsmack", the band announced that it was going on hiatus. Singer Sully Erna worked on his solo album during this period, while the other three members of the group started a side project called Another Animal.

I love these guys. Used to hate them just to follow the bandwagon, but now that nu-metal's not so popular, i dont rlly generalize them as much and i listen to them , i realize like how awesome and powerful their music was, just full of energy. The best songs to tap ur foot too, cuz the bass drums always have like sick beats lol. Can't wait for their new album, cuz im sure its gonna be sick.

Let me be the first to say that i don't like like "Whiskey Hangover"

Having said that. IMO bands like Godsmack,Disturbed and others are not writing the same song over and over, or that all songs sound that same. It's merely their style. Other bands long before these bands (AC/DC to name just one)have been doing the same thing for their entire career too. Yet, its undeniable that they are considered legends(AC/DC) Why are these bands any different than a Godsmack or Disturbed??? I happen to like both band ALOT, and can still admit when a song they make sucks, but to me, not every song sounds the same. Its what i expect to hear when i listen cuz its their STYLE.

For anyone who thinks that all Godsmack is the same, please go listen to (in what ever order) Awake, The Other Side, and IV. I assure you, if you think that those albums sound the same (beyond the fact that it is Godsmack, and they play like Godsmack) then you are a serious musical dumb ass.

The problem I had with Faceless is that the songs really do start to sound too similar. Their first album was great, though, if they can top that then I'll pick up the next album.

I like Godsmack, but what an awful song. They definitely jumped on that post-grunge, cowboy-rock, a-little-heavier-than-Nickleback-but-still-sounds-like-Nickl eback bandwagon. Unfortunate, because they're a cool band.

I like them, they are good, solid rock that I find very listenable. Some bands do sound the same on all of their albums, but they make the fans happy, because if they changed up the formula everyone would say its too different.

...bunch of Alice in Chains ripoffs in my opinion. They stole their band name from one of their songs, they copied heavily off of their sound (especially in the early days), and almost stole an album title (faceless-facelift). Plus they started as an AIC cover band. Do something original, maybe I'll listen

I honestly thought I was the only person who thoguht this. Their Sun logo is even a rip-off of something Layne painted. Jerry said in an interview awhile back that he feels Godsmack should have to pay Layne's mom royalties for ripping the man off so much. I fully agree. What a bunch of ****s.
