Gorillaz Most Popular Band On MySpace In 2008

Gorillaz have topped a list of the most popular acts on MySpace this year, ahead of the likes of Coldplay, Oasis and Lily Allen.

The website has revealed its top eight most watched, most listened to and most popular acts, along with the top eight most watched videos.

In the list of most popular music acts, Gorillaz comfortably beat Bullet For My Valentine into second place, while Madonna's "4 Minutes" was the biggest video of the year, beating "Love Is Noise" by The Verve into second place.

2008's Most Popular Musical Acts on MySpace were:

Gorillaz (682,875 friends)

Bullet for My Valentine (596,885 friends)

Amy Winehouse (542,268 friends)

Coldplay (525,110 friends)

Lily Allen (462,159 friends)

MIA. (399,858 friends)

Oasis (353,484 friends)

Imogen Heap (351,484 friends)

Interesting, seeing as how Gorillaz havent released new songs in a year or so, if you count D-Sides. I guess seeing Imogen Heap on there accounts for alot of Myspace's foreign users perhaps.

nah didnt break up... but they just like became a side project while damon albarn worked on blur... and then they were gunna make a final album which would be a sountrack to the movie but they stopped that idea... and now they r just making a studio album... possibly thier last... cuz they just are kinda too nonchalant about it

I love the people saying Gorillaz as a "they". As in "they" broke up etc
It's a one man band: Damon Albarn (and to some extent Jamie Hewlett as he does the art) he's just got lots of people helping to contribute is all.

Anyway I'm not having a go, I just find it quite amusing. I'm looking forward to the new Gorillaz album, be interesting to see what Albarn can come up with what with everything else he's got going on at the moment.
