Gorillaz/Blur Singer Forms New Band

Damon Albarn has formed a new band, according to reports. The Blur and Gorillaz star is understood to be rehearsing with a group called the Good The Bad And The Queen.

Albarn is said to have recruited Paul Simonen, formerly of the Clash, to play bass, along with ex-Verve guitarist and part-time Blur member Simon Tong. Tony Allen, Fela Kuti's drummer, is also in the band, who will release their debut single in October, claim this month's Mojo magazine.

Apparently the Good The Bad And The Queen will play their first show together at the BBC's Electric Proms season at the Roundhouse venue in London this October.

There has been no confirmation about plans for the music Albarn has been working on with Danger Mouse, who produced the last Gorillaz album and is one-half of Gnarls Barkley.

Woah i love Damon, im a huge blur fan so i cant wait to see what this is like! I really thought that he was going to me working on new blur material, but he's a great songwriter either way, so ill be looking forward to this

I only know of Simon Tong from The Verve. He is a pretty good guitarist, although, not as interesting as Nick McCabe.

Gorillaz were like one of the most succesful bands of 2005 and blur were massive why would he want to start a new band? i'm jealous. I saw him on Friday night with jonathon ross and he seemed real kl.

So does the name mean there's someone/thing called 'Good The Bad' and another called 'The Queen', or is Albarn just being lazy and not adding the 'the'; in which case the a 'Good', a 'Bad' and a 'Queen'...or is it just a silly band name?

Sooooo excited. Love Gorillaz. Love Blur. Damon is bursting with so much origionality and i know his new project is gonna be more origional than the last. Simon Tong was a huge part of Demon Days as well as danger mouse who makes music with gnarles barkley all these people coming together, must be set for success.
