Guitar World Anniversary

MediaPost.com reports that the 25th anniversary issue of Guitar World magazine will be on newsstands next Tuesday, December 28. The special collector's issue features what the editors are calling "the most spectacular group of guitarists ever assembled" on the cover, including Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Joe Perry (Aerosmith), and Slash (Velvet Revolver, ex-Guns N' Roses).

The anniversary issue will feature interviews with such legendary groups as Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Nirvana, and Metallica; lessons with guitarists like Pink Floyd's Roger Waters and AC/DC's Angus Young; a look back at historic "Guitar World matchups," including Jimmy Page meeting Jeff Beck and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) meeting James Hetfield (Metallica). A CD featuring lessons for playing 10 classic guitar riffs is polybagged with the issue as well.

they make a big deal about having a CD with it!!! so what, i mean Total Guitar in the UK supplies video lessons with how to play the solos of that months classic track, and a cuple of issues gave out a DVD AS WELL!!! these American magazines are so far behind the times

I'm going to write into Guitar World and ask why we don't get a cd when we have a subscription. I find it kind of a rip-off. The reason they probably don't have Eddie (Van Halen) on the cover is because maybe he was busy or something. I mean, getting all those guitarists on the front was an accomplishment in itself because they all have different schedules and what not. Do not fret though, Eddie's featured a hell of a lot inside the magazine.

Joe Perry is one of my fav guitarists. Kirk Hammett is overrated, as is Slash.

Guitarist magazine is better in my opinion... better CD

the CD doesn't come with your mailed subscription..you have to buy it from a store...Total Guitar does kick ass...i'm from a little podunk city here in Kentucky..BUT we have a Barnes&Noble so i can all that good foreign shit...the UK magazines are always quite better and more accurate an shit....RxIxPx Dimebag...i didnt even like Pantera but this seems to be the cool thing to do...i mean a lot of peeps on here seem to be just huge posers...why not join in?...oh and I take that back, not every UK thing is good..I DL'ed some of that group Busted that i read about on here...TOTAL SHIT!!!

Cool. I read the magazine every so often (whenever I can afford it lol) and I always love reading the articles. As for best guitarists on the front? Jimi Hendrix should've been number one (besides Eddie Van Halen)

I subscribe to Guitar One Magazine and they just started including the CD's in the magazines, Guitar World is just following suit. They will eventually offer the CD for magazine subscribers but probably wont for the next few months. When they do offer the CD in the subscription copies, they will probably charge extra for it. You will get a choice of a sub with or without the CD. For Guitar One it's an extra $1.00 per issue, It's worth it though.

Technically you are correct.
However, if you were to read the liner-notes from many of the albums post-Barrett and pre-Floyd 2, you'd find that there are plenty of tracks written exclusively by Waters. Both lyrics and music. 'The Wall' specifically, which was Waters' brainchild and composed almost in it's entirety by Roger. He is certainly not limited to the bass in his talents.
I'll pick up the issue just for that lesson.
