Guns N' Roses: London Gig Leaves Fans Stranded

According to Virgin.net, Guns N' Roses made a controversial return to the U.K. stage on Wednesday night (June 7) ? leaving many fans stranded in London after their set ran drastically late.

The group arrived on stage over an hour late for their comeback show at London's Hammersmith Apollo and the gig did not finish until 1:00 a.m. ? long after the trains had stopped running.

Many furious fans, who had booed for half-an-hour before the band hit the stage, were left without a way of getting home or were forced to leave before the end of the group's 130-minute show.

Singer Axl Rose unveiled a new seven-piece line-up and played four songs from forthcoming album "Chinese Democracy" in a set that was littered with costume changes and expensive pyrotechnics.

You've just gotta think of them as a different band, but with axl rose as the frontman. He's just using the gnr name to help him keep goin, its alot easier than startin another new band and having to get the name out there and publicise them.
The new gnr does have some talent, and imo are definately worth a listen.
You've gotta remember the songs have bin made over a decade apart, they're bound to sound different.

He was great in the 80's, they made some killer music and now he just seems to be doing what Jim Morrison was doing at the end of his days,( F***ing Up) I don't think it's even drugs with Axl. They had the 5 known people, (Axl, Slash, Gilby, Duff, Sorum) and then Dizzy reed on keyboards, Teddy zigzag on harmonica and backing vocals, and the three chicks with brass instruments, who also did back up singing.

I saw them in New York on the first night and it was great. Even the band was great, except for that Bumblefoot guy, he was terrible. And if anything, the concerts SOUND BETTER because there are more people and more sounds to fill the songs, make them sound like the record. One thing some of you have to realise is that times change. People change., music changes and bands will change. The Guns n Roses most of us love and know wasnt the original Guns N Roses either. They cant just go on after 20 odd years playing the same hard rock music, the music back then was a lot different to what it is now. I think that this band can be quite successful if the album does well and retains some classic Guns N Roses no nonsence Rock and Roll as well as something a little different. Kind of a mixture of things for everyone. And whatever you think of Axl Rose, you call him a D*ckhead and idiot, but the truth is that he is one of the most well known brilliant front men ever. (when he wants to be). Good luck to GNR and i hope they find their old fame once again. Look forward to hearing their music after such a long wait.

Its not that I dont like axl as much as this isnt GnR. This should be a completly new band because almost none of the origonal guys are in it. If he wouldnt try to mame money off the GnR name I wouldnt care.

First off, just to let you guys realize something. There have been a total of 191 posts about this in just a few days. Axl did his job and accomplished what he wanted to do. He got ya'll talking about GNR again.

Second, don't say they can't be as good as the old GNR. To use an example, everyone said the new lineup of Lynyrd Skynyrd wouldn't be as good, but when I saw them in concert, they kicked ass and sounded just as good. So, unless you have actually seen them, don't just assume they'll be worse.

No sir, we do not have to think of them as a different band because Axl thought it was a good idea to make everyone have impossible standards for him by keeping the Guns n' Roses name. He is doomed to an eternity of dissapointed fans, unfair comparisons, and impossible expectations to meet.

the axl rose experience is nothing like van halen, inxs, rage against the machine or acdc, in that one member left, rather than the breakdown of gnr when everybody left axl, rage had the right idea by forming a new band with a new direction when chris cornell, watch and learn axl, watch in awe of audioslave, the TRUE masters of reinvention

I'm goin to see them on the 25th July and if Axl is late he will have completely lost my respect. With all the limo drivers and flashy cars he must have he should be able to get to a concert on time.
