Hulk Hogan Was Asked To Join Metallica

In addition to having been a professional wrestler and the star of the reality television show "Hogan Knows Best" in his time, it seems that that Hulk Hogan was also a musician in his younger days. Hogan claims that he was offered a position in Metallica playing bass while the band was still starting out.

In a recent interview with The Sun (via Gibson), the heavyweight champion spoke about his days as a session musician as well as his friendship with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

"I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler," Hogan said. "I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn’t work out."

As well as talking about his experience as a bass player in his youth, the wrestler also provided his opinion on the famous rock group The Stone Roses.

"I love The Stone Roses," he said. "They’re getting back together, right? That’s cool man. I used to work out to some of their songs."

The Metallica thing's a bit of a surprise but I never would've expected Hulk to be a Stone Roses fan. That's really cool.

There's a lot of ifs and hows here. Hulk's a wrestling icon and a household name to people not even familiar with wrestling whatsoever. I'm glad he didn't join Metallica but I bet even if that offer was made it was just in jest plus Hulk would never have fit in with the thrash metal look and lifestyle. *Imagines the Kill 'em All liner photos with Hulk instead of Cliff*

None of those because had he joined Metallica, the persona of "Hulk Hogan" would have never existed. He'd still be Terry Bollea.

And as everyone else has said, this information is pretty old. Thanks for being late as usual, UG.
