Fans might see some radio-friendly singles from metal veterans Iron Maiden in the near future. Guitarist Adrian Smith says the band are looking at working on shorter songs after recording a series of lengthy tracks.
Smith told that he always admired the way Hendrix, Free and Thin Lizzy produced perfect three-minute singles.
"
They did some great singles – put things into three minutes, which is a difficult thing to do, but it can be done. We've been writing longer for some reason. Maybe next time we'll do some shorter stuff – but it’s difficult to look into the future too far."
As for bandmate Bruce Dickinson's pilot skills, Smith says he has no concerns letting the multi-talented singer fly him round the world.
"Anything he does, he gets right into it and he does it really well. And he does it for a living, it’s not like he does it as a hobby" he said. "I've seen him check out flight plans, literally just before a gig. It’s like, "We've got to go on stage in a minute!" But he can switch on and off. He’s very professional. It's amazing."
