Award-winning R&B singer Alicia Keys and rock maestro Jack White of the White Stripes have teamed up to create the theme for the upcoming Bond movie, Quantum of Solace.
Organizers made the announcement from London on Wednesday, also revealing that the song, Another Way to Die, will be the action franchise's first-ever duet.
Producers
Michael Wilson and
Barbara Broccoli said they were "
delighted and pleased to have two such exciting artists …[be] inspired by our film to join together their extraordinary talents in creating a unique sound" for the latest instalment of the super spy series.
White has written and produced the track, on which he plays drums and sings with the Grammy Award-winning Keys.
The U.S. artists follow in the footsteps of artists like Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, Duran Duran and Carly Simon who have recorded distinctive title tracks for the Bond movies.
Some of the songs, as well as composer John Barry's instrumental 007 Theme, are considered classics of cinematic music.
Troubled British soul singer Amy Winehouse was previously said to be working on a new Bond title track, but producer Mark Ronson a frequent collaborator later revealed the project had been abandoned because the singer was "not ready to record any music."
