Jason Newsted Would Rejoin Metallica For 'A Squillion Dollars'
Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted has said he would rejoin the band if he was made an offer he could not refuse. Newsted left Metallica in 2001 and was replaced by Rob Trujillo. Newsted was himself a replacement, having joined Metallica in 1986 following the death of Cliff Burton. Speaking to Swedish blog Metal Shrine about the possibility of rejoining his former band, Newsted said: "If they were 'brofessional' about it and if they came as my brothers and they were professional with the meeting and they're sitting there and looking me in the eye and the managers aren't around." Adding: "If it was like that again and the money was crazy, then I would consider it. But it would be only for that thing and it would be absolutely delegated. It would have to be these 30 shows in these 45 days for this squillion dollars. But it has to be that." Newsted went on to add: "I love those guys and I always will and I will defend them to the end of time. I'll always have respect for those guys, because they gave me my chance. They gave me my chance and I'll never ever forget that. Now, we've had our differences over time but that shit is under the bridge a long time ago." Metallica are currently working on a new album. They plan to release the follow-up to their last album "Death Magnetic" in 2014. Drummer Lars Ulrich recently gave Metal Hammer the lowdown on what to expect. He said: "The stuff that we were banging out yesterday, it felt heavy, it felt energetic, it was loud, it was fast, it was rocking, it was crazy... The snare drum was on there and there were guitar solos, in case anybody was wondering." Thanks for the report to NME.com.
