With his new album The Blueprint 3 scheduled to be released on September 11th, Jay-Z has been making some notable appearances lately.
The rapper's most recent stop was at Grizzly Bear concert this past weekend. Because of him being in attendance, media outlets swarmed to Jay-Z to find out why the artist was at a concert that had nothing to do with rap or hip-hop.
"
They're an incredible band," he said. "
The thing I want to say to everyone — I hope this happens because it will push rap, it will push hip-hop to go even further — what the indie-rock movement is doing right now is very inspiring.
"These concerts, they're not on the radio, no one hears about them, and there's 12,000 people in attendance."
It's no secret Jay-Z has had a love for indie rock and other music genres. The rapper revealed earlier this summer that several artists such as Empire Of The Sun and Justice (not MGMT) would be making an appearance on his upcoming album.
"I don't understand why people are always surprised to see me at shows!" he exclaimed. "I've done records with Chris Martin. I'm all over the place because of my taste in music."
