Jim Morrison Against Global Warming

artist: doors date: 02/01/2007 category: general music news

The late, great Jim Morrison has been enlisted to help in the campaign against global warming, a full 35 years after his death.

Former Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell has put a poem written by The Doors frontman in 1971 to music.

The previously unheard poem, titled ‘Woman in the Window’, was written by Morrison shortly before his untimely death.

The Global Cool campaign are using the track to urge people and world leaders to cut carbon emissions. It will get an official release in April.

The poem tells of an angel warning mankind about its actions and the ominous things that may happen in the future.

The Global Cool campaign is calling on people to cut down their use of electricity and other sources and encourages the use of renewable energy sources.

Thanks for the info to GIGWise.

Wonthefu :
That's pretty cool. I've never really heard Perry Farrell sing, so I hope he can do Jim's work justice. And hey, it's for a cause I actually believe in!

You probably have heard him sing. He was in Jane's Addiction.

It's hard to say what Morrison would think but hey, if he wasn't a complete dumbass he would have recognized global warming as an issue if it were as much of one back then.

In '71? People knew of global warming, but it was more limited to scientists and such. The average person didn't know.

If u use ur eyes that wat it says!
There may not have been much talk of global warming back then, but it doesnt mean it wasnt there.
Also the whole point about poetry and music is that u can interprit it in many different ways, and maybe it is just a coincidence, but im sure there is a good reason as to y Perry has done this.

What's ironic is that his body has turned into methane and already helped ruin the ozone layer.

How about Greenday recreates one of Wagner's unfinished symphonies in E minor? Then they could go on a tour for the children starving in the Congo that no body cares about.

Or better yet; we could become slightly more conscious of our wrong-doings and NOT give in to the media's worthless bullshit...

If anyone here has read the countless autobiographies on Jim they would know he was an ******* and probably wouldn't care.

Seriously just ride your bike. haha but really I think we need to spend less time on worrying who supports it and more time actually doing SOMETHING. Harper, Blair and Bush arent really pushing the West and its a problem because we (dont flame) are sorta the big pushers in the world and if we get on board everyone else will.

Jim would rather it be donated to the Bo Diddley fund or something. He'd probably laugh at it being used to pay for some corporate/world leader conspired theory that the world is melting.
Jim's poem is being put to an unworthy cause. Al Gore will probably be there bobbing his head as if he is a doors fan... LOL what a joke...
