part of the zeppelin mantra is that they stopped after bonham died. as much as it would be cool if they tour i think it's best if they dont

ImpStarJay :
I think you're right. If they came back with a new album, people will want it to sound like their music from the 70's, but if you listen to Plant and Page's music from the 80's and 90's it doesn't sound much like Zeppelin. A few Plant/Page/Jones new songs might be cool, but not as Zeppelin.

It would have been nice to see Zeppelin in concert in the 70s. Now = not so much.

Did anyone else think at first he meant the four original members. I hadnt twigged until I read the article he was talking about Plant.

I wish they'd record the jams, I bet they'd be epic.

No RonMexico = No Zep.

he probly did mean the original four members, and i agree with him. I think if they go on a world tour and start recording new material again it will ruin the status that theyve built up over the years. Plant cant sing nearly as well as he used to be able to, so any new material wont be at the level of early Zeppelin. They should quit while theyre ahead and keep their status as the best rock band ever, rather than be another classic band that reformed and sounded like shit

without Plant and Bonham LedZep just ain't it, closest it can ever come is with James on the drums, but it still isn't LedZep, but I have to admit I am torn between y desire to see them live in concert and keeping them in the pedestal of "Greatest Band That Won't Ever Be Again" in which they are now

though, like it was suggested before me, the idea of some fresh new songs by Plant/Page/PaulJones or Page/PaulJones/Bonham sounds pretty sweet, and if they do I'd definitely get them, as long as they don't advertise it as Zeppelin

No need for Zep. Get Nick, Dave, Roger and Rick on a conference call and call a plane and book it for Toronto. I needs to see the Floyd!

Oh yeah, I love Jimmy Page. Bless his snow white locks and magic fingers.

they should just do something similar to Creedence Clearwater Revisited. Just try doing some new material and touring, but don't even call it Led Zeppelin or say it's supposed to be credited as Led Zeppelin, instead just say it's some new work the original three members plus Jason Bonham are having some fun with. Don't even play old Zeppelin material.

Oh yes. If you absolutely must have vocals, at a push you could just poach the guy from The Answer, he thinks he's Robert Plant anyway.

I thought that they were going to do some recording under a new kinda project name. At least so we can here some Jimmy and Jones and Bonham Jr. Honestly, we can go without Plant.

I saw someone post this here once and I agree with him when he said, if they do go on tour, their fans wont see them. They will change $150+ a ticket. And only the rich will see them, not all their real fans.

Well i think any Zeppelin is good Zeppelin, so they should do a tour, just for the fans if anything. Also if they did make a new album would it be any different? I mean did Bonham contribute to any of the song wrigting anyhow?

As much as I like led zeppelin I'm not dying to see them live - I don't think I could take 1/2 hour drum solos etc.

a Slade reunion on the other hand, I would sell my granny to see.

POSTED: 09/09/2008 - 09:37 am / quote |
dustyoffski :
are you kidding jimrh7? most of john bonhams "1/2" hour drum solos were a highlight of the concerts. Ive heard alot of john bonham drum solos, and i can tell you the half hour drum solo on the led zeppelin dvd set is one of bohnams best. The one from the royal albert hall 1970 is not only one of drummings best, its one of the best instrumental solos by any musician or composer.
POSTED: 09/27/2008 - 09:47 pm / quote |
dustyoffski :
No one can drum like John Bonham, thats one main reason why there hasnt been any Led Zeppelin since 1980. But his son, what a treat to see his own son sitting in on a Zeppelin concert. I'd pay to see that for sure. Jason may not be the same as his father on drums, but it sure would still be Led Zeppelin in most ways. Now without Robert Plant as its singer, they would have to call it something else i would think. I think "Black Dog" would be a great name(even with Plant in), instead of Led Zeppelin. Just for fun. I imagine there is a whole lot of Zeppelin tribute bands called "Black Dog" but maybe not. But then, if u think Zeppelin you think of plant singing Black Dog so maybe not that as a name. I just hope that when they tour, if they have an opening band, i hope its Lenny Kravitz, he would be absolutly perfect. whats anyone else think?
POSTED: 09/27/2008 - 10:01 pm / quote |
dustyoffski :
Come on we all wanna see Led Zeppelin, but remember the three main members are in their 60's. If you attended a Zeppelin concert and you are young (or older) please be respectful of others. You should have fun, but not at the expense of others. These are important historical and professional musicians your in the same arena or hall with, not some mosh pit, or violent metal party.

has anyone actually seen this?..It is brilliant. Plant should be there but Myles definitely can handle it.
