Joe Perry: 'Aerosmith Won't Wait For Steven Tyler'

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has said the band "won't wait" for Steven Tyler to get back involved with the band after the singer stated that he's not leaving.

Tyler joined Perry on stage recently to make the declaration following rumours that he had left the rockers. Now Perry has told Billboard that Tyler wanted a two-year break from the band – but he wants to keep going.

"Aerosmith wants to work," Perry said. "We're gonna work and we're gonna do something – I'm not exactly sure what yet, but the band's too good to let it sit around. We're not going to wait for Steven."

The guitarist added that Tyler's appearance at his solo gig was a complete surprise. "He was really the last person I expected," he revealed. "I was really blown away that he came to the show. But he showed up and was really anxious to come and sit in and play so I figured, 'What the hell?'

"He's been my partner for 40 years, and I figured I'd let him have some fun and. Give the fans an extra treat."

first of all layne staley was only the voice behind what jerry cantrell created so since cantrell wrote 75% of the material i say he can do whatever he wants with the AIC's name. sublime a different story because nowell was the driving force behind that band but i mean it stills cool to see bud and eric jamming again. havent heard shit about zep reforming without plant and they havent even done a show without him so that inaccurate. and steven tyler is just being a baby premadonna that he is. sooo just because the lead singer ODs doesnt mean the whole band should die with them. you think nowell would be like no man im not there dont jam sublime songs without me. i think not

I had tickets to see Aerosmith on the last tour they were just doing, my scheduled show was the first that they canceled before canceling the entire tour. So, you can imagine I've been following Aerosmith news very closely lately. I really hope that they get it together and tour again asap.

It's not a case of the face at the front but the sound and style.
Aerosmith without Tyler's swagger and Jaggeresque sneer is a different band.

Bands changing frontmen generally change style perfect example Black Sabbath, without Ozzy they changed plenty thanks to mr Dio
