Happy birthday to Rob Halford, who turns 60 today!
The Judas Priest frontman celebrated with a specially made Harley-Davidson cake while in Berlin, with the band posting a set of pictures on their official website to mark the occasion.
"Happy 60th Birthday to our Metal God - we celebrated with him with a big 'Harley' cake plus a few gifts and cards when we were all together in Berlin!!" said the announcement. "Happy Birthday Rob - have a great day! We all love you!!"
Rob was born in 1951 in Sutton Cordfield, England, according to
Blabbermouth. He later joined Judas Priest in 1971 after meeting his fellow bandmate
Ian Hill through his sister, later joining
K.K. Downing and
Glenn Tipton as the full line up.
His return to the band couldn't come soon enough, and the band celebrated their 30th anniversary together in 2005. This year the band will be embarking on what they have called their final tour, starting in September.
Halford is recognised as a major influence on metal, and is often noted for having one of the most powerful voices in the genre. He famously became the first openly gay mainstream metal frontman in 1998.
Happy birthday Rob. Here's to another 60 years!
