Kaiser Chiefs asked David Bowie to contribute to their new album ‘The Future is Medieval’ - but didn’t think it was good enough.
According to the NME, drummer and songwriter Nick Hodgson was disappointed with the lyrics suggested by his hero:
"Tony texted David asking for his suggestions to finish off a verse [on 'Man On Mars'] and he came up with a couple of lines," Hodgson said. "I'm such a big Bowie fan I can't believe I'm saying this, but they just weren't right, so I've missed out on a Hodgson/Bowie writing credit. Gutted!"
The band deserve credit for their
album launch, which allows fans to select their own 10-track playlist from a choice of 20 prepared songs. After creating your own artwork, you can share the album to friends and earn £1 for every sale you make, giving fans a great reason to share the album on social networks.
One enterprising fan named themselves after BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles in a bid to earn more referrals for their playlist, and now sits at the number 3 slot on the album’s best seller chart.
UG would love to see what playlists our readers come up with, so share your links in the comments and we’ll check them out.
