King Diamond Guitarist Forms New Project With Former Black Sabbath Singer

Guitarist/producer Andy La Rocque (King Diamond) is currently composing songs for Black, his new collaborative project with vocalist Tony Martin (Black Sabbath) and bassist Magnus Rosén (Hammerfall). Andy says, "At this point I think we have the music written for about 7-8 songs, so we need 3-4 more songs and then we need to arrange it properly and we'll be ready to start recording, hopefully end of summer/autumn."

According to Martin, the first song that was written during the project's initial writing sessions was called "Deathless Soul" and it "sounds very dark." However, the singer was quick to point out, "I don't expect it to be completely in that vein."

A photo of Martin, Rosén and La Rocque taken in late February in Sweden can be viewed here.

La Rocque is one of the scheduled guest performers at Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw's May 27 concert at the Brew House in Gothenburg, Sweden. The one-off event, which will be professionally filmed and recorded for future DVD release, will see Shaw perform "all his favorite songs" from "all his former bands" — including King Diamond, Notre Dame, Dream Evil, Mercyful Fate, Therion, Memento Mori, Illwill, Xxx And Dimmu Borgir). Andy will play a few King Diamond songs at the show with bass player Hal Patino and guitarist Mike Wead.
