Korn Joined By Fear Factory Guitarist

Korn have enlisted Fear Factory guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers as the replacement for the recently departed Rob Patterson.

Rob, who was previously the guitarist for Otep, joined Korn as the backup guitarist in July 2005, filling the slot left vacant by the departure of Brian "Head" Welch.

KornTV.co.uk has posted the first picture of Christian performing with Korn. The photo, which was taken at the Super Bock Super Rock XL festival in Lisbon, Portgual on Thursday (May 25), can be viewed at this location. (All of Korn's backing band wear animal masks while performing in concert. The move is apparently intended to separate the hired musicians from the actual band and to incorporate the look of the new album cover into the group's live performance.) A couple of video clips from the May 26 concert in Madrid, Spain have also surfaced: "Here to Stay", "Somebody Someone".

Fear Factory are not currently on tour and have no dates scheduled until the fall. However, it is not clear if Wolbers will only be joining Korn for the European leg of the "See You on the Other Side" world tour or if his tenure with the group will be extended to include the upcoming Family Values trek.

As previously reported, Korn's upcoming DVD, "Live On The Other Side", will receive a big screen premiere on June 19 at more than 100 theatres in 70 markets nationwide. Along with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and music videos, the disc will feature excerpts from a private show the band played for contest winners and U.S. soldiers on a plane headed to New York from Europe.

The should be interesting...They do need a permanent guitarist to replace Head...one that PLAYS ONSTAGE with them preferably. It's just harsh to have the guy play the guitar parts but be offstage, I know Head's departure hurt and everything but still...

KoRn is not dead, they are very much alive, they're gaining attention from new generations, new fans to support them, and they still have lots of older fans, and a lot of other people beside fans who still support them. I think they've done great without Head, and I hope they will continue to do so.

God I wish I could replace Brian instead of Christian Olde Wolbers, :P

I think it's lame that they feel they need to wear masks... I mean, does anyone mistake Christian for Munky? If not for their completely different stage personas, because one uses a string thru Jackson and the other an Ibanez with an Edge.
I think the day is yet to come when I rather listen to See you on the other side rather than Transgression, just to make them contemporary. Fear Factory own Korn, end of story.

KoRn is an amazing band that will be remembered as we remember Metallica. Having Christian as thier new guitarist should be interesting, but when you think about it, it fits really. KoRn uses seven string Ibanez, Fear Factory uses seven string Ibanez.

First off, anyone who doesn't like KoRn shouldnt even be giving their pointless opinions on this page. This page is to discuss not diss... Anyhoo, this should be very interesting indeed. Ever sense Head has departed their style has once again changed... and if you noticed not one album sounded alike... they are just love to make changes so they dont get the same album over and over again. But Fear Factory is a really good band as is KoRn, so that is a good mix right away. I'm always looking forward to see what KoRn might sound like next and in my opinion See You on The Other Side was an incredible album. The last concert I went to with the 8 people playing... they had them all on stage so I'm sure that they all will be on stage again (the mask thing was kinda weird though but I liked it). KoRn is definatly not dead nor are they dying... they have another good 10+ years if their fans stay loyal (and I'm sure they will) They will continue to make changes to not bore their fans and to get new ones. So I wish them the best of luck.

(plus JD's vocals are completely amazing in the new album)

While I must admit, I didn't like Korn at first(dunno why), they grew on me(I was obsessed with that band for a long time).

Glad to see they're still doing new things(I have yet to get their newest cd though, I want to though). I think it sucks how all of a sudden a lot of people started to shit on them for no reason. It's a shame since they're a pretty cool band.

They need a permanent guitarist though, should be interesting to see what happens with Fear Factory's guitarist in the band for now though.

I used to like KoRn a whole frigin' lot but their new CD really dissapointed me and I find it really cheap of them to get a new guitarist (who is actually very respectable and not just some on-demand canon) and make him wear a mask like he wasn't even in the band. I know head is not replacable but come on! It would be nice though if having Christian onboard could make them be like "Follow The Leader"-era KoRn again.

Cept maybe Joey. The rest are useless. Craig controls the guitar effects....think about that...If james and mick arent using pedals then its a roadies job. Sid is only usefl on certain songs.
