A rumoured tracklist for the new 'Guitar Hero IV: World Tour' has appeared on gaming site GoNintendo. The site claims the list is real and confirmation is expected in the next few days, reports Consolemonster.com.

the first 20 odd songs made me think o crap this is gonna be shit, but then suddenly it picked up and if some of the songs that are listed are in the game then im definetly gonna get it. i doubt this is the track list though. hasn't it been confirmed that the guns n roses song shacklers revenge or summat will be on there. i cant see it on the list but its been confirmed apparently. still hoping its gonna ave some great classic songs

the origin site of this information has songs grouped up as 3 per "tour"... which is weird, a tour by GH standards would probably consist of at least 5 songs. True, Led Zeppelin does suck, but I was just trying to prove a point that real rock news or events aren't as important as video games are to you people. Actually it hasn't been deemed fake yet, no one from Activision or NS have personally said that it is (and even so they said the GH III set list that was leaked was fake and it turned out to be true). Plus,why did GI alone get told this? Wouldn't Activision or NS want either a bigger publication/site or if not most of the gaming sites to know this to get it sunk in that it's fake? And actually if GI was told something it would be from a spokesperson and not directly by a developer, thus at best they got a no-comment and glorified it as a no. Until a PR comes from Activision or NS directly then chances are all they've given in response is a no-comment.

Most likely false...although the drum intro for Song for the Dead would be spectacular, the bass and vocals don't start until about a minute in. And if it has Nirvana, it can do better than Teen Spirit (a good song, but very overplayed and quite simple). AC/DC been confirmed for Rock Band, their list s better just for the sheer fact that theyll have more songs by the end of the year, Rock Band 2 will allow you to get all the songs from rock band 1 some how, and all DLC songs will work that were made for rock band 1 as well, plus they said at the end of the year they will have roughly 500 songs all together, i like guiar heros screen designs more than rock bands but song wise guitar hero will never match up, though it is easier to play

With songs from bands like Tool, Pink Floyd and Thin Lizzy, it looks like a music-game lover's dream. Well, the folks at Activision and Red Octane are pinching us all awake with the announcement that it's a fake. We spoke with a representative who confirmed that, while some of those songs are indeed in the game (Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher," for one), the bulk of it is wishful thinking and pure speculation.

here's the problem with that story: Activison, Red Octane, and Neversoft have yet to publicly comment on the list. Until one of these three confirm it as fake, you just have a company looking to increase it's page hits.

Of all the DT songs they picked "Pull Me Under" just because it was their hit? I think something like "In the Name of God", "Under a Glass Moon", "Lie", or even "Constant Motion" would be much better songs to put on Guitar Hero. Wow. I honestly hope this is the official track list. FINALLY playing MOP would be insane, and IMO, that shouldve been used instead of "One" in GH3, and Angel of Death instead of Raining Blood IMO. The only songs that i dont like are Sweet Home Alabama, and Boys are Back in town, mainly b/c the solo in that is bad period. Seriously, there are too many awesome songs in that list. Assassin, 10,000 Fists, Toxicity, Everlong, etc. This should be fun (if its real).

Hopefully not too many kids will be convinced that Johnny B Goode, Mr Brightside and Every Breath You Take are easy.

You know, I don't mind these games so much when it's just twenty songs(rather than the 500 or so now available), but it's irritating to know that instant gratification culture has led to kids not having to pick up a guitar to learn to 'play' so many songs. Guitar Hero is so much easier that the frustrations of learning guitar are overlooked for button mashing and color coding. Seeing my best friends spend hours with this game instead of touching their $200 guitars really makes trying to start a band a difficult process. All so that MTV and Activision can get a little richer and less original.

also i have a few ideas on the career mode layout:
-divide the tracklist into a few main genres- maybe heavy metal(early bands), rock, punk, speed/thrash metal,etc and play as a punk guitarist(or watever) in a shortened career
-chose a deacade to start in(50's,60's,70's,80's,90's)and lead ur band through the years and survive the current trends such as disco and shit(when u reach a certain point in the 60's u unlock purple haze,70's u get leather rebel,80's master of puppets, 90's teen spirit, etc)this could become really intersting where at certain points in time, imaginary bands are made and u can switch between groups if ur band is failing(ur bands success can be decided when u write songs in the custon songs mode.if ur song is good then that keeps ur band from failing. u audition to join other bands, like a boss battle. better bands have harder auditions)all this happens while u relive the history of rock and its many subgenres, as a guitarist in a band that performs covers(being the songs from the list)

I am a guitar instructor myself, and have noticed that the students who own this game enjoy playing their guitar with the album blasting out of a stereo much more enjoyable than pressing some colored buttons that have nothing to do with the guitar. You can't make your own music on Guitar Hero, can you? Why not just learn the REAL guitar and then you could become an artist yourself, instead of imagining it with a cheap piece of plastic in your hands.

i think my real problem with gh is that people only look up to the guitarist that are in the game. people miss the most amazing ones of all. i was at a summer camp thing recently and there were some little 11 year olds in front of me and they were talking about a guitar battle and the names they mentioned were: tom morello, slash, and hendrix

the first 2 are good but ove , and i think people only say hendrix because they are told he is amazing without have ever listening to him (even tho hendrix is amazing)

This is a really good list, but I really hope its fake and the real list is complete shit, so I dont have to hear the GH posers at my school talk about their "favorite bands". Its a fun game, but its still a game. People who get all obbsessed with it and play it all the time need to either a) pick up a real instrument. b) get a job. c) get a life. or d) die. I will be honest, I got guitar hero 2 and after my dad seeing me play expert he considered that I should try taking up the real guitar like my older brother. So I thought about it, I figured hey this game doesnt have the potential to get me anywhere, I love music so why not actually do something constructive and really learn how to play it. Glad that I did, I just wish more people who play this game would realize that and pick up a real instrument. Otherwise, this game will be the downfall of music.

Im glad to see that they are putting in songs that have people of true guitar hero status, such as Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen and Buckethead, but starting mainly with the third guitar hero, Im getting sick of them putting in crappy songs in the game that any one whos played a real guitar for two weeks could pull off, just because the band is popular. That means you killers and Jimmy Eat world. The first game was the best because they steered more of the set list torwards songs that were revered for their guitar parts, there were to many songs in the third game that had just super simple riffs played over and over again and nothing really fun or interesting about them. I seemed to get really tired of all of them really quick compared to the other two games, I question if this is due to the third game being produced by several new companies, none of which are the origional creators of the game, Harmonix.

i learned about some bands from guitar hero. and i didn't listen to much music as it was beforehand. and yes i did start learning to actually play the songs.

just wanna ask one question...where is protest the hero? Bury the Hatchet was one of the best, most fun songs on GH2...so why not bring them back now? their vocals aren't scream oriented and all the instruments would be fun and challenging...another great addition would be The Human Abstract...technical on all levels yet the vocals are singable...and if those bands are too underground then why not Escape the Fate who are certainly popular enough to warrant at least one song in the game...just some food for thought

Hmm, I think I'm pretty torn. I'd LOVE to sing and play to The doors, Pink floyd and Ted Nugent, but the fact that kids at school will actually know and pretend to like them just shatters the joy.

And for all the people who comment on the whole GH being lame- Its not really a game meant for people who can already play the guitar ( and if you play the game and guitar GH is probably more of a hobby than something you play 8 hours a day )... First half of the songs are horrible. After I started to see some really nice metal, rock, and punk songs (and good punk, like NoFX) im much more optimistic about GH4. Definately happy to see Satriani is finally on GH, would have been better to be on Rock Band 2 (im looking forward to that coming out as well).


Oh, and, Dragonforce shouldnt keep getting songs on GH or any game. They are the lamest, most pathetic, so called "metal" band since the bands of the 80's glam "metal" (and I put quotes on metal for those because they arent but people still stick them in the metal genre for some reason). And guitar hero PWNS rock band, rock band is shotty, the controler is annoying. Playing the songs in general on there is crappy. Not to mention that when you get good at guitar hero (expert), no game in the world compares to the feeling you get when you finally 5star that song youve been trying to get for weeks.

Rockband is and always will be better than GH. Activision totally f***ed up GH3. They kicked off Harmonix which was one the original creators for GH. I took the advice of that guy who said to wiki emo. And I learned a couple things... I only was in there for a couple bits of information. Apparently, Blink 182 is not emo. They do, however, blow hard. The drummer is the only person in that band who does not suck horribly. From what I've heard, at least one Tool song will be in the game, so I kinda believe this.

I don't understand why people are so bothered by GH and RB... Yes, we all get that it's not teaching you how to really play an instrument, I'm a guitarist and bassist myself, the similarities of real instruments and these games are very few in number. But that's not the point of the games anyway! They're entertaining, easy to learn, and introduce people to (generally) good music.

It's not Activision's fault that some people are too immature to handle "other people talking about the songs/bands they like" after hearing it on the game. Personally, I'm a HUGE Dream Theater fan, and I'm glad they chose to include them in the game, because maybe it'll spark interest in them (Noone where I live has heard of them, so maybe now I'll be able to talk to someone about them haha). If you disagree, just dont buy the game. But don't flame it, you're view doesn't change the outcome.

Anyway, most of the confirmed songs for this game are KICKASS, can't wait to buy this
