'Led Zeppelin Are Over!' Says Jimmy Page's Manager |
| artist: led zeppelin |

category: general music news |

Despite published reports indicating otherwise, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have abandoned plans to record and tour together, reports Joe Bosso.
MusicRadar spoke exclusively with Peter Mensch, Jimmy Page's manager, who stated categorically, "Led Zeppelin are over! If you didn't see them in 2007 [when they played a one-off reunion at London's O2 Arena], you missed them. It's done. I can't be any clearer than that."
Mensch confirmed that last fall, when singer Robert Plant made it known he was continuing his partnership with bluegrass artist Alison Krauss and had no intention of returning to Led Zeppelin, replacement vocalists were auditioned to possibly record and tour with Page, Jones and Bonham.
"They tried out a few singers, but no one worked out," says Mensch. "That was it. The whole thing is completely over now. There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it."
When asked what new projects Jimmy Page was going to be involved with in 2009, Mensch said, "Fuck if I know. I'm waiting to hear."

i was one of the people that wouldnt have minded hearing another singer, personally.
although now i can get away with saying that i want to hear page, jones and bonham jr. play with a new singer, since they will most likely be a different name now.

I hope the nooooo subsitutions was a joke dude. I know Lemon already mentioned this, but what about Jason? I'm not an English professor, but im pretty sure thats the definition of substitution. Robert Plant is a jerk anyways. BAck in '87, my mother saw him in a bar in New orleans, tried to get him to sign her copy of Zepp IV on vinyl. He told her to **** off, he doesnt have anything to do with that shite anymore. I knew this shit wasn't gonna happen at all, ever since their last gig last year. : Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, if they were to tour it was going to be under a different name, and with a new singer and no drummer the only two "real" members would be page and john paul jones.
when Ian hunter tours it used to be with mick ronson for his solo thing - If any of you have been to see them half the set is mott the hoople songs.
I'm sure there are countless examples where a member of a disbanded band forms a new one, ends up with two musicians from the old band, and play a set heavily leaning on material from the old band.
plus Jmmy page was qouted as saying he'd be up for new material.
My point is that this Isn't led zeppelin, it's
another Jimmy Page solo thing (and good on him) but he's done that kind of thing before - I don't see why it's been hyped so much. POSTED: 01/12/2009 - 02:54 pm / quote |

You're right, and you're wrong. Seeing as the story originated from MusicRadar.com, a UK-based website, they were following British grammar, which follows that groups are plural.
Examples: Michael Bolton is a tool. Creed are lame.

: This is depressing and enlightening at the same time. Depressing because, well it's Zeppelin. Enlightening because i honestly dont think they're as good as they were in their hayday (or maybe it's heyday). Now, if Richard Wright hadn't died, a Floyd reunion would've been great because Gilmour still sings all the songs in the original keys and still plays the guitar like the legend he is. Page, although one of my favorite guitarists, just simply isn't as good as he was while Zeppelin were together. : Led Zeppelin has made some GREAT music, but i think it's a little late now to have a headline saying "Led Zeppelin is over!" because seriously, after Bonzo's passing, Zeppelin was over, and i think it was a good time to break up because In Through the Out Door SUCKED and no one could replace Bonzo. i hate reunion tours because the bands just don't have it anymore, and Zeppelin isn't Zeppelin with half the band members, so i am glad Zeppelin is over. that sounds weird to be saying that, being a HUGE fan of Zep, but i think they should have broken up and just shut hell up in 1980. To get REAL nitpicky, British grammar rules say are is correct. American rules: Since Led Zeppelin collectively defines a group, and is the proper name for the group, not only should it be captialized (duh), but it would follow with a singular verb, i.e., is, because it's called a "collective noun"...which is a singular noun describing a plural group of people, animals, professions, etc etc.

You're right, and you're wrong. Seeing as the story originated from MusicRadar.com, a UK-based website, they were following British grammar, which follows that groups are plural.
Examples: Michael Bolton is a tool. Creed are lame.
