'Led Zeppelin Are Over!' Says Jimmy Page's Manager

Despite published reports indicating otherwise, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have abandoned plans to record and tour together, reports Joe Bosso.

MusicRadar spoke exclusively with Peter Mensch, Jimmy Page's manager, who stated categorically, "Led Zeppelin are over! If you didn't see them in 2007 [when they played a one-off reunion at London's O2 Arena], you missed them. It's done. I can't be any clearer than that."

Mensch confirmed that last fall, when singer Robert Plant made it known he was continuing his partnership with bluegrass artist Alison Krauss and had no intention of returning to Led Zeppelin, replacement vocalists were auditioned to possibly record and tour with Page, Jones and Bonham.

"They tried out a few singers, but no one worked out," says Mensch. "That was it. The whole thing is completely over now. There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it."

When asked what new projects Jimmy Page was going to be involved with in 2009, Mensch said, "Fuck if I know. I'm waiting to hear."

Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, if they were to tour it was going to be under a different name, and with a new singer and no drummer the only two "real" members would be page and john paul jones.
when Ian hunter tours it used to be with mick ronson for his solo thing - If any of you have been to see them half the set is mott the hoople songs.
I'm sure there are countless examples where a member of a disbanded band forms a new one, ends up with two musicians from the old band, and play a set heavily leaning on material from the old band.

This is depressing and enlightening at the same time. Depressing because, well it's Zeppelin. Enlightening because i honestly dont think they're as good as they were in their hayday (or maybe it's heyday). Now, if Richard Wright hadn't died, a Floyd reunion would've been great because Gilmour still sings all the songs in the original keys and still plays the guitar like the legend he is. Page, although one of my favorite guitarists, just simply isn't as good as he was while Zeppelin were together. Also, I don't think Robert Plant is as good either

Zeppelin was Jimmy's band all along (more or less) so if he wanted to find a different singer because Robert opted out I don't have a problem with it; it's not like he was PREVENTING Robert from re-joining, then grabbing another singer.

If Led Zeppelin doesn't want to tour ever again or do anything as a whole then fine. They're already at legendary status as it is and they've done way more than enough to prove that. But does Page's manager have to go about this like a child? I know managers in this business probably aren't of the most noble souls but this guy sounds absolutely obnoxious and immature. To get REAL nitpicky, British grammar rules say are is correct. American rules: Since Led Zeppelin collectively defines a group, and is the proper name for the group, not only should it be captialized (duh), but it would follow with a singular verb, i.e., is, because it's called a "collective noun"...which is a singular noun describing a plural group of people, animals, professions, etc etc.

I wish Led Zeppelin would have moved on without Bonham. I know, it sucks to lose someone like him, but they shouldn't have ended the band just cause one guy was addicted to alcohol. I think they should've searched for a new drummer after his death and continued the band. But hey, that's just my opinion.
