Led Zeppelin Performed With Foo Fighters

Members of Led Zeppelin collaborated with Foo Fighters at this weekend's Wembley Stadium show - after rumours were circulating the internet at the end of last week.

Last night's event (June 7th) saw Led Zep's Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones joining the band for the encore at their second show at the huge venue.

The collective performed versions of two Led Zeppelin songs - 'Rock'n'Roll' and 'Ramble On'. During 'Rock'n'Roll', Dave Grohl took to the drums to allow Taylor Hawkins to sing - then during 'Ramble On', the two switched roles.

After Led Zeppelin reformed for a one-off show at London's O2 Arena last year, Dave Grohl claimed he would love to drum live with the band if they decided to tour again.

The set list for the Foo Fighters show can be read at Angryape.com.

This is awesome, but come on, the press are just trying to hype up Led Zeppelin again, getting on the bandwagon of praise built up from the concert last year. Still awesome though, like I say.

i was there and i gotta say it was the greatest night of my life. they really put on a show and it was worth every penny. bring led zepplin out was just awesome

the fact that jimmy page and john paul jones came on and did rock and roll and then ramble on with dave and taylor just cemented it as one of the greatest gigs ever.

Dave Grohl should just do what he's best at and drum rather than perpetuating his commercial frontman career... I mean all respect to the guy but I'd much rather see him do that; also I can't see Led Zep using anyone but Jason Bonham on the sticks, at least most of the time

kd420 wrote on 06/09/2008 - 11:03 am / quote |
WOW, first Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, now Page and Jones!! Foos must have a lot of respect from old rockers.

UG, was it really that hard to add "Members of" to the beginning of the title of that article? It's also strange how you would post Plant's picture on the article like he had ANYTHING to do with the performance. Again with the misleading headlines! Put the bong down and report what really happens, will you?

That BS aside, I'm happy Grohl got to live out his dream. He deserves it. Long live the Zep and the Foos.

This1GoesTo11 wrote on 06/09/2008 - 11:54 am / quote |
Um....might want to change this headline to "Members of Led Zeppelin Performed With Foo Fighters". You might want to replace Plan't picture with Page's or Jones'. It's always good to practice good journalism.

I was there the first night so we didn't get that encore.

It was a good gig...but, I think I'm right in saying that it was JUST good...not great. I don't know, it just seemed that the visual aspect of it was lacking. What did they have? A runway, a revolving stage and strip lights....that was basically it, for such a huge arena. The music was good and all...but they didn't quite capture Wembley arena for me...not until the last few songs.

A good gig by any means, but not awesome.

i went to muse and foos and foo fighters absolutely owned. In fact, that gig shat on anything I've ever seen another band do and i don't think there's any point in anybody playing live again because the perfect gig just happened

and it still would have been that good without led zep

greatest night of mine (and apparantly Dave Grohl's) life

couldn't you just go to somewhere good (like good 'ol laaaaandan town) to see them?

another stroke of genius guys

or maybe just a stroke

LOL, a brain stroke.
But I can only imagine how epic this gig would have been. I nearly pissed my pants when I saw them in Sydney...can only imagine how awesome Led Zep and the Foos on stage together would have been.

anyone who doesnt go see a gig cos of exams is a pussy

i think led zep should perform with slipknot

HAHAHAHA slipknot and foos on the same stage, you gotta be kidding, please dave, dont let their poison get into your veins.

Anyway, this sounds gooood.
I'm by no means a big Foos fan but I'd have payed a fair amount money to seem them at Wembley with Triangle solos, Page and JPJ.
Fair play for somehow getting the two to play with them.

Id kick you in the face.

Maybe Zep and Foos are close friends or something? A few years ago, Dave and Taylor covered Stairway to Heaven on Saturday Night Live (youtube it!), and the first several notes to The Pretender are the same first few notes to Stairway....

I was there right at front by the run way, it was crazy down there a few peopel got egected for fighting(not sure how amny of those got arrested as there wa sa HUGE police presence afterwards).

The nigth was awesome, the support(the future heads and supergrass) were mediocre at best but the Foo's rocked it out and Zep just blew it through the roof. A few people ahd already left on the saturday by the time the Zep boys got on stage( shame on them) and they also missed the huge fireworks display that was put on afterwards.

Dave even cried alittle during the final song best of you after playing with the lads and said it was his best ever gig and happiest night of his life.

I feel soo sorry for those who went on Friday.

I wish I was there, would have been best show ever. The Foo Fighters and the legendary Led Zeppelin!!! I would pay any amount for a ticket to see that show.
