Linkin Park: Destroyed And Inspired By Pearl Jam

Despite having the biggest-selling first week of 2007 thus far with 'Minutes To Midnight,' Linkin Park are not the type of band to let success go to their head.

So, it's with humility that LP guitarist Brad Delson tells PopEater backstage at the L.A.'s Projekt Revolution tour that he and his bandmates have found something like relief, reports AOL Music. "I can finally say with some confidence that having 'Minutes to Midnight' come out and be so well-received, that I really see us now as a career band."

Still, Delson says Linkin recently learned in Europe that they're certainly still evolving -- a lesson taught to them by rock veterans Pearl Jam. "I was really blown away by what they do on stage -- how organic their show is," Delson says. "We played [with them in] Lisbon, and we were kind of high on ourselves a little bit. Then I stood on the side of the stage, watched Pearl Jam perform, and was immediately very humbled. They seriously destroyed us. I say that in the best way possible. It was like, 'Holy crap, there's so much room for us still to grow.'"

Linkin Park are taking another page from their forebears Pearl Jam by releasing complete live recordings of each of their shows following the event. "It means we can't suck," Delson jokes. "The stuff's gonna go up on YouTube anyway, so we might as well do a real mix of it for fan rather than it have be [recorded by] some dude jumping up and down with a cell phone."

Yeh Linkin Park became a stadium headliner band way too quickly, they cant be as talented as the veterans they tour with.

Im glad they recognise this though, it can only mean LP will get better

lol, i like lp but their new album is kinda less intense then the first 2 were (reanimation ain't an album, just so you know)

I like hearing this from a band. like someone said above....it means that they are gonna grow into a better band.
I do see the chemistry for better change in the coming years, what they gotta learn to do is release material faster.

I remember growing up listening to linkin park! The days of hybrid theory! Classic album by the way... Then they released reanimation which was Shit, then meteora which was alright. But the jay z thing was lame!! Hated it. Minutes to midnight has a few good songs on. Very different! Very mellow and also emo! Hahaha

yeah, this is why LP are so awesome. i saw them at projekt revolution on saturday and they ****ing owned the place, so maybe i should really thank pearl jam.

I'm sorry but LP had to one of the most disappointing bands I've seen live. I saw them at the second Projekt Revolution tour and they were tight, but they're tones and Chester's voices were damn near agonizing. I mean the main thing that ruined it was Chester's voice but the guitar tones left so much to be desired.

I like Linkin Park. BUt yeah, stadium headliner on thier debut was too fast. I just wish heyd come to FL. MTM is a pretty good album.

I think Brad's attitude about everything is awesome. First, he's humble rather than stuck up like many people seem to be these days. Also he's accepted the fact that their concert's going to end up on youtube, and rather than try to prevent it like so many people would have done, they just made it easier for people to get a better quality version to put up on Youtube.
