Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singer Johnny Van Zant was hospitalized over the weekend due to complications from a previous surgery.
Van Zant was admitted to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN on Saturday, with a surgical site infected cellulitis, which required hospitalization with IV antibiotic treatment.
Johnny was diagnosed with a severe Staph infection and multiple symptoms related to infection.
Doctors have ordered Van Zant to rest and recover thoroughly before returning to the stage; as a result, Skynyrd have postponed several upcoming dates in the hopes of rescheduling them when Johnny has been cleared to go.
Johnny is the younger brother of Skynyrd co-founder and former lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant (who was killed in the October 1977 plane crash) and .38 Special founder Donnie Van Zant.
