I knew the "all-star tribute to Dimebag Darrell" had to be Hellyeah, I saw them on Halloween night here in Indy. They kicked ass, played all of their songs, including their cover of Stone Cold Wasted. Great live band.

This is bullshit. I think that innovation is great and all for tour, like last year's freefest was an awesome idea. But how the hell can they simply play one show. For over a decade it has been like a 30 date tour and now they change it up to one show. That is complete bullshit

I'm friends w/Ozzy & Metallica on myspace.com & they both posted bulletins regarding the 1-Day only festival. Too bad it's in Texas I've never seen Sevendust & Drowning Pool.
I saw Metallica in 2004 (prolly when the other guy from NYC saw them last), Shadows Fall & Mudvayne for Ozzfest 2005, Korn for Projekt Revolution tour...those are the only ones that catch my attention anyways...

Anyways I already knew about this lineup it was on metallicas website. and yeah this is awesome. I wish it would be in more than one city but oh well.

Wow, I see a bunch of little middle school haters in here. Let me just give you guys a word of advice before any of you make yourselves look like idiots further.

Ozzfest is on the way out, just like Lollapalooza was. Newer, trendier festivals like Taste of Chaos, SotU and what have you are starting to sell more tickets then ever before. The only way Ozzfest will make any money anymore, just like Lollapalooza, is to change from a touring festival to a one stop show.

They milked this baby for all its worth. Maybe they can come up with fresh ideas to keep Ozzfest going, but within a decade (aka when Ozzy retires) Ozzfest will go with him. Good riddance I say too, their lineups for the past 3 or so years have been completely horrible.

Wow what whining, you do know back in the day even the best festivals weren't frickin 30-stop tours. It's nothing new, Metallica probably took up most of the budget so they may have had to just do a one-off. Either that or they have something else planned for Ozzfest and will announce it later(one show is kinda lame and won't get them much revenue unless tickets are pricy).

ha! inovative sharon says, yet wasn't ozzfest a response to lalapalooza. taking their blueprint and doing the same thing with metal as opposed to alternative music and rap? the only thing inovative (and it was a big inovation mind you) was being free last year. that was just amazing.

Yeah, BACK IN THE DAY. Back when they didn't HAVE the ****ing resources to move that much shit from place to place, and when the artists got themselves there rather than travel with a bunch of other bands. Now things are different. People are complaining because Ozzfest in the past has been a big tour, and the sudden switch-up is a big change, and a lot of people go to Ozzfest religiously.

Seriously though, I understand if you dislike his music, it's not for everyone, but at least have respect for the guy.

Anyway, now that I think about it, I've already seen Ozzy before, so the only two bands I'd be going to Ozzfest for are Shadows Fall and Metallica... I don't know if that'd be worth the money. Although I am interested in what this Dimebag tribute is... gah. Oh well. Maybe they'll change their minds.

Obviously you weren't inspired by Dime. I listened to Pantera since I was a kid when Vulgar Display of Power came out and the day he died was the day my world was turned upside down. He was a huge inspiration on my guitar playing and the music I write and pretty much how I am as a person. He was a good hearted man and the more tributes, the better.

With a line up like that, I wouldn't go even if it was free.

At least last years had Behemoth and Chthonic

Dallas(Frisco),Texas baby! i'm soooo there! times are changing. and Dallas(DFW) is a major metal market. i say it's about time the world took notice. this is Dimebag land, not to mention Rigor Mortis. just a friendly family reunion. can't wait to see HellYeah!
i bet Vinnie and the boy's bring down the house.

Fuck metallica at ozzfest. And I'm so tired of this dimebag tribute load- the horse is dead; lets stop beating it for christ's sake!

Ahwell, I'd give anything to see The Sword live.

I also kind of agree with noisebox, and they're just trying to use dimebags name to get more attention. Let the man rest in peace.

hmmm i agree that they should leave Dimebag rest in peace, but the line up doesn't seem that bad. i'd go just for metallica. then i'd probably leave.

**** metallica never playing anywhere I am. You would think NYC is the greatest place for concerts, and it is, but they havent been here since october 2004.

Try NZ. When the hell was the last time Metallica came here?

Good lineup though.

1 day? Everyone needs to relax. Ozzy is almost 60 years old!!! He has been consistently tourning non-stop for about the last 17 years so I think the God of Rock and Roll can take a break. Give him some slack. And how is Jonathon Davis, Serj , Metallica and Ozzy a bad line-up?

kinda saw this coming actually... ozzy is now way to old... 'tallica will be following the footsteps here soon...

It will be in the middle of the Rich Suburbian Frisco Soccer Park and not at Superpages Center near Dallas where it usually is and closer where Pantera used to play clubs. That would seem like a better tribute to Dime to me holding it there. Frisco must have stole this because thier soccer team is called Dallas and the city isn't even in Dallas County, but I think they used to play at the Cotton Bowl near the Superpages Center. I'd rather see it at Superpages or Texas Stadium where Metallica used to play.
