On December 7th, Metallica premiered their video for "All Nightmare Long" here. They also left the quote, "Spores, Soviets, and Zombies, Oh My! You might have seen a few rumblings over the past week . . . well here it is! Check it out!" The video is pretty lengthy, about nine minutes and features mostly animation about organisms that have the capability to bring back the dead. It is filled with many hidden messages, such as a Soviet and USA flag being mixed together and is a real treat to watch. Another interesting thing is that the band themselves never appear in the video.
"
All Nightmare Long" will be released as a single on December 15th in Europe on the Vertigo label through Universal. The single will include the title track plus the accompanying video. A special "
Single Collector Package" will consist of three CDs and will feature additional live recordings plus other previously unreleased material. More information will be made available soon.
"Death Magnetic", the current album from Metallica, was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) just six weeks after its release on September 12 by Warner Bros. Records.
"Death Magnetic" debuted atop The Billboard 200 chart, Metallica's fifth consecutive album to do so, making them the only band in chart history to have five albums debut at No. 1. It breaks the band's tie with The Beatles, U2, and the Dave Matthews Band, all of whom have four No. 1 album debuts. "Death Magnetic" remained at No. 1 for three consecutive weeks.
In addition to debuting at Number 1 atop Billboard's Rock, Alternative, Hard, and Internet album charts in the U.S., the album racked up No. 1 chart positions in 31 foreign countries, including the U.K., Canada, and Australia, and Top 3 chart slots in seven more, including Japan.
Easily my favourite Magnetic song. Glad it was a single.
