Metallica, The Beatles Not Heading To 'Guitar Hero'

Kai and Charles Huang, the founders of videogame publisher RedOctane, have commented on the rumors surrounding Guitar Hero games featuring the music of Metallica and The Beatles. Both potential tie-ins have crept up in the media as the popular series launched its Aerosmith title.

"We're not ready to comment about Metallica yet, but what I will say is that we'd love to work with all of the top rock bands of all time, whether it's Aerosmith or Metallica or AC/DC or Led Zeppelin," Kai Huang told Billboard.com. "If we get an opportunity to work with those bands, we would love to do that."

As for this Beatles business, Kai said, "Unfortunately, those are rumors right now and we don't have any comments yet."

Charles added, "I don't have to tell you how difficult it is. Everybody in the world has tried to get the Beatles to put their music on all kinds of different platforms, and it certainly would be exciting, but it's also a difficult challenge."

For now fans will have to eagerly await Guitar Hero: World Tour, the first title to feature drums and vocals like Rock Band. Not only that; the game will also include a "music studio" feature that allows players to track their own songs and share them online.

Beatles probably isnt true but they will do it eventually. The Metallica thing is true, its the internets worst kept secret. Metallica even confirmed it themselves on their website and their myspace. I dont know why they are trying to keep that secret longer. I lost all respect for these games when neversoft started to make them. They are selling out and raping their own franchise. Sort of like what they did to their tony hawk series. They realize oh hey we can release basically the same shit every time and make money off of it because its guitar hero. Now that they are adding drums isnt going to make it any different. Screw guitar hero, for music rhythm games, Ill stick with rock band, the people who made the first two and the only good guitar hero games.

Or I'll just actually play the guitar, seeing thats actually productive haha.

yea thats exactly what i was thinking. if the world tour game's gonna cost almost 200 dollars then a beginner guitar and amp pack would probably be less then that anyway

not that i explicitly have a problem with guitar hero, its fun in doses at parties and such. And it has allowed a few people i know to actually try picking up an instrument.

I've had people actually tell me they're guitar players because they play this stupid game. I hadn't been so offended in quite some time. I told them, if you could play the intro to "Stairway To Heaven", or the riff from Megadeth's "Architecture of Aggression" on a REAL guitar, then, feasibly, you could call yourself a guitar player. Playing some stupid ass game that requires NO skill does not make you a guitar player. Like many have said before, pick one up and try to work the parts out, like REAL guitar players do!!!

Why do people feel as though they must ridicule other people's hobbies? Just because you do not share them? I play a real guitar but that doesnt mean that people cant have fun playing Guitar Hero or that they are wrong for caring about being good at it. All of the ridicule is ignorant.
