Of course they will. Death Magnetic is selling like crazy, it debuted at #1 for two straight weeks and is actually pretty good. Plus the Metallica name is worth something. Even if they don't write amazing material I'll guarantee that they still pump out new albums beyond 10 years from now.

I think they will be, but I can't see them pumping out albums every year by that time, if they're not doing it now, they never will.

Christ, guys like this should take advice from Motorhead - a new album every 1-2 years since 1977!

Yeah, but he's garbage live and the majority of his songs suck.

At least Metallica puts on a damn good show for being 40-somethings. I'd rather see them once every 5 years and have it be awesome than every year and be mediocre

Ulrich's words are ironic since Metallica famously sued the original Napster several years ago for making the band's music available online without its permission.

how is that ironic? if Metallica released an album online it would be with their permission, and we'd probably have to pay for it too which is fair, the napster thing was with illegal downloads...

Hope they make it to New Zealand in that time

I know the records selling like crazy but thats because they are metallica and they are already famous and have a huge fanbase and have great marketing resources. They could keep selling albums till they die.

I think they are forcing it too much though the songs sound like a bunch of parts constructed together with lyrics just thrown in thier but theres no feeling. It sounds forced. They themselves know it. If you can bear to watch st anger ( the movie) you would be appauled at their current creative process. Its totally a job and their not enjoying it. This album sounds similar.

Im not knocking them though he siad it himself " its not easy when your older". Its hard to play and have passion like they did when they were young and dumb and full of it like when they were 20.

I just think the passion is gone and i dont like the new album. Kill Em All ,And justice For all and MOP those were good ****in albums.

While this was true during the writing of St Anger [both the movie and the album], they had a producer that sucked. His name was Bob Rock. That was why St anger sucked. He suggested they should write something that was NOT Metallica, that followed the newer traits of metal.

You should watch Some Kind of Monster. That explains the whole thing.

I do agree however that this album isn't as good as the KEM - AJFA days. At least they're back to the thrash days again.

did you miss the part that says he wants to see his kids grow up, ya MetallicA is cool and all but come on, your kid only grows up once.

and Death Magnetic is an alright album, it`s a HUGE improvment from the Black ablum on up, but it`s still not totaly MetallicA the way we want them to be, there not really thrash anymore, which sucks, but hey Slayer sure takes thrash to new levels every ablum almost, can`t wait till the next one, Psycopathy Red is a crazy song, Slayer is the true Thrash band

I think this really proves that they love what they're doing. If they didn't love getting on that stage almost every night, they wouldn't, because they don't have to anymore. They've already achieved more than most bands ever , and I think they're just gonna keep going until they're physically unable. Not for money, but because they enjoy it. And there are still million of people out there that have always supported Metallica, even when it became the cool thing to shit all over their name and trash their new material on the internet. Metallica for life.

Yeah, exactly! They could take a The Beatles and just stop touring and just release albums, but they don't.

I think the reason they still is there and kicking some major asses is just not because of the chemistry in the band, but also their fans. Like looking on a 13-14 year old kid's face, it's his first time watching them, and he have the chance to meet them. Metallica have seen faces like that billions of times, but never gets tired of it. It's like the fans are their fuel.

Dude I saw metallica in October for $85 and I was about 5 feet from the stage. They played a two hour plus set. How many bands do you know that can play a two hour set? Not many.

The Mars Volta (3 hours)- $25
Receiving End Of Sirens (3 hours)- $15
Rush (2.5 hours)- $35
Coheed and Cambria (2 hours)- $20
Sigur Ros- $35-40
Tool (2 hours)- $40

So yeah, $80 is a little steep to see a 2 hour set of Metallica in my opinion.

add about 50 bucks to most major touring bands ticket prices and you have a Vegas ticket price. The last time Tool played in Vegas, two nights at a 8000(ish) seat venue and the cheap seats were 70 bucks, floor seats were 125. You're lucky to get a full two hour set in this city too. it's lame sauce. There's two venues you've got a chance to pay a reasonable price to see a gig, other than the lame bars here. uck...

I'm sure they will be around in some way, look at the stones..... Im sure in ten years time they'll still be doing the occasional show or releasing an album or two (maybe a greatest hits or something), but there is still a lot of money to be made from Metallica, and, like the other guy said, Lars wont kill the cash cow, he's gonna milk it for all its worth.

ever occur to you that

METALLICA DOESN'T WANT TO RELEASE ANOTHER MASTER OF PUPPETS!?

Dude, the fact that they are playing there for a week is because they are OBVIOUSLY in high demand, and plus, who is to say when the next time Metallica will play Denmark is? The fact is that they want to give everyone a chance to see them, and I bet you a hundred bucks that they will sell out every show they play there because, like it or not, Metallica is one of the last great bands in music and as long as they play shows, people will buy the tickets. Look at the St. Anger tour, that album was an abomination to music, yet they still sold out shows left and right. Metallica is a great band, and love them or hate them, you know deep down inside that they will be around forever.

I'm afraid you've lost all music credibility. Maybe if you said something like "his voice sucks now" or something that is subjective. But to say his songs suck...you must know nothing about music.

Bob Dylan works 100x harder than Metallica. Metallica goes out every 5 years on a tour...plays the standard old stuff and some tracks off the new record.

Dylan on the other hand, switches his set list every night and re-invents his songs with new arrangements and lyrics.

it gave the world and the diehard fans a look at the real men
behind metallica
you go be in a band for 20 years with the same people
and see how many fights you get into
its a hard life
but theyve fought through it and released a kickass album
death magnetic
i will always be a metallica fanatic
im only 16 but i will always love their music
LONG LIVE METALLICA

come on Metallica, come on.
hell, id go just to see LoG support them. LoG and Metallica in one venue is well worth the $80 IMO

Pfft, I haven't even bothered to listen to Death Magnetic, a friend of mine vaguely described it to me and just sounded like another failure. St Anger, Load, ReLoad, all shitttt....MoP FTW

He said it was pretty good...so i lent him my phone full of system of a down, dark tranquility, opeth, disturbed, lamb of god, and stuff, he gave it back the next day and the day after he'd already bought the Hypnotize album.

Dude I saw metallica in October for $85 and I was about 5 feet from the stage. They played a two hour plus set. How many bands do you know that can play a two hour set? Not many.

The Mars Volta (3 hours)- $25
Receiving End Of Sirens (3 hours)- $15
Rush (2.5 hours)- $35
Coheed and Cambria (2 hours)- $20
Sigur Ros- $35-40
Tool (2 hours)- $40

So yeah, $80 is a little steep to see a 2 hour set of Metallica in my opinion.

that would be a good point if there were actual good bands mentioned. who the hell is Receiving End Of Sirens? Rush is good but thats about it. anyway, metallica ****in owns, keep selling every single ticket every single night.

Sorry, did you just suggest that Tool aren't good?

well youll never have that privelige if you want them to play in standard tuning live. james cant hit those high notes anymore, so you know what? be happy that they are still around playing the old stuff. its only a half step down any way

Coheed and Cambria are good too if your not a closed-minded dick.

His tickets probably costed so much since he was so close to the stage.

You misunderstood me. And there's no need for caps (that clearly state you're too easy to piss off). I didn't mean that they should release something like MoP or sounding like it... I meant - release something good, or worth labeling Metallica, worth being among the history they wrote. Something that's worth it. Death Magnetic was just an attempt to please both sides of the coin, the old stuff fans and the new stuff fans. Just seemed like they tried to get the runaway sheep back with this one. Look, it's better than anything they've done in the past 15-or-so years, but I just wanted to say that they've lost it. Sure, there are a couple of good songs (my personal opinion), but it just feels as if they should call it quits. They'll only simply cause even more arguements like this one with every new release...

Metallica for life.

you know i agree 100%. we all have shit all over their name especially when st anger came out cuz it wasnt the metallica we all knew and loved. thats what makes kill em all, justice for all, master of puppets, and ride the lightning classical heavy metal cuz it was raw and hardcore shit that nobody ever dreamed of. raw heavy guitar licks coming out of 1000 watt speakers, and the master of the double bass pedal and drum set itself, lars. the members of metallica is what keeps the band alive today. so what if they aint as good as they were. they are still out there producing more music for our ears. i respect them for that. Keep on rocking METALLICA!

Ulrich's words are ironic since Metallica famously sued the original Napster several years ago for making the band's music available online without its permission.

how is that ironic? if Metallica released an album online it would be with their permission, and we'd probably have to pay for it too which is fair, the napster thing was with illegal downloads...

Hope they make it to New Zealand in that time

true man they havent been to NZ For years the last time they did was at big day out and i missed that!!!
hopefully they do come here that would be awsome
