New Green Day Album Already Out?

Rumors are making their way around the Internet that punk trio Green Day has released a new album under a different name. On Tuesday (September 30), Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong's own record label, Adeline Records, released an album by a band called the Network. Titled "Money Money 2020", the album features a singer who sounds remarkably like Armstrong himself, leading to fan speculation that the band is actually Green Day in disguise. Although Green Day's publicist did not confirm nor deny the rumors at press time, a management spokesperson flatly told, "I don't know what you're talking about."

The members of the Network use fake names like the Snoo, Fink, and Van Gogh. The Adeline Records WEBSITE says that the band is "extremely mysterious and never show their faces to humans or cameras. The members hail from all corners of the world and were brought together by an ancient prophecy, which predicted their rise to world power and eventually their demise."

Some industry source speculated that Money Money 2020 was originally intended as a Green Day release, but was rejected by their label, leading the band to put it out themselves.

Green Day is officially working on a new album now, due out some time in 2004.

I love how we can get so stirred up by music (art). There is no better or correct way to play music. Green Day plays what they play because they play what they play. The music business puts an entirely new element into making music.

When anything is run by people in order to make money, they are making their best possible guess at what a majority of the people will buy. Right? So, they won't be able to please everyone with every record a company puts out.

Of course, I always find myself getting mad at certain bands saying that they are awful musicians. But that's because I let myself be influenced by listening to other people. They would condemn bands for thinking they sound good. So I therefore never gave that music a chance. That just doesn't make sense.

By the way, I didn't even start to listen to Green Day until Shenanigans came out(2002). My favorite bands before were Weezer and Nirvana. I started listening to Green Day when my drum instructor suggested I listen to Tre Cool. I was HOOKED!

When I started listening to punk rock music, four years ago in freshman year of high school, I loved it because it sent me a message of liking who you are, dealing with what you've got in your life, stop complaining about stupid crap, and do what you want to do. Simple as that, or is it?

This is most assuredly true. The Network uses two lead vocalists that switch for different songs. The singers definitely sound like Billie Joe and Mike. Also, I saw a picture of the Snoo (drummer) on the internet. His mask has eveholes and a mouthhole cut out of it. It was definitely Tre's smile! Another clue is that both bands keep dissing each other in public and that the label that the Network works under is owned by Billie Joe and Adrienne Armstrong. The CD is great. Buy it if you like DEVO and/or Green Day
