Nickelback Sweeps Canada's Muchmusic Video Awards

Alberta rockers Nickelback swept the MuchMusic Video Awards Sunday night, as their hit "Gotta Be Somebody" won for best video, best rock video and best postproduction.

Nickelback came into the Muchmusic Video Awards with a field-leading five nominations.

The best international video award for a Canadian artist went to Billy Talent for "Rusted From The Rain".

The best director trophy went to Vancouver rockers Marianas Trench for "Cross My Heart".

Not only was Gotta Be Somebody one of the worst videos I've ever seen, Nickelback has produced LOADS of better material AND videos. UGH.

As a Canadian, I would just like to take this moment to disavow any possible alliance of allegiance to this band and its music. I am not a fan. I don't know anyone who is. I don't know why they keep getting nominated or how they keep winning. I'm sick of them making us look like douchebags. You know why the U.S.A.ians hate us so much and think we're so lame? BECAUSE THEY THINK WE LIKE THIS CRAP! I'm sick of it. There are actually good Canadian bands out there that deserve to be in the international spotlight... but not these jokers. No friggin' way. The awards committee is made up of a bunch of spineless, callow asshats that figure if a band sold a million copies of it's debut album then it'll bring us (Canada) international acclaim. Get with the program guys! If they are gonna stick around stop touting them as a national pride. They're not, more of a national shame to people who enjoy well-made music..... sorry, rant over, I'm gonna go piss on a maple tree and kick a beaver.

You, sir, are an extremely intelligent man.

So, if these talentless hacks won awards for this song, then shouldn't they win the same awards for every single song they wrote since all of their songs are basically the same? Wait, my mistake, they have TWO songs: the crappy 'ballad' and the even crappier 'rock' song.

Nickelback is what's wrong with mainstream music today. I don't know of any other band, besides Creed, that I absolutely hate with a passion.
