Nine Inch Nails Release Brand New Instrumental Album

artist: nine inch nails date: 03/03/2008 category: general music news
Nine Inch Nails Release Brand New Instrumental Album

Nine Inch Nails have released a brand new 36-track instrumental album, entitled ‘Ghosts I-IV’.

The unexpected release was recorded during a ten week period last Autumn alongside Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder.

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor said in a statement that he had been “considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years".

This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams.

I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts,” he added.

Ghosts I-IV’ is available in five different formats – from a nine song sampler to a $300 ‘ultra-deluxe’ limited edition package which features an exclusive four-LP 180 gram vinyl set in a fabric slipcase.

Thanks for the info to Gigwise.com.

an instrumental album from a band that's essentially a vocalist? That's a little ironic.

I hate when artists release too many tracks at once because it may take away from the tracks themselves when you have to much to listen too at once. But yes, I love NIN's instrumentals. They are beautiful in their own dark, hollow way

wrote and recorded MOST of what Nine Inch Nails has done. Many studio musicians and other musicians alike show up on NIN records.

more important than what's being presented is the way it's being presented to us as consumers. You can download one of the four albums (9 songs) for free directly off their website. You can pay $5 and get all 36 tracks in almost any format you could want. The more expensive packages have a data dvd that comes with them, with every song broken into .wav tracks so you can edit or remix all of the songs. The $300 one comes with a blu-ray disk that has a photo slideshow to the music, and a picture booklet. This purchase is also signed and numbered by Trent Reznor himself, so 300 doesn't seem too bad to get a great amount of music autographed by one of the most influential people in music. I wouldn't pay $300 for it, but for a big NIN fan, this is gold.

It is completly stupid to charge that much, but let's be honest, you know all 2500 of them are gonna be bought! And as for Reznor's voice being the weak part of his work, his voice is awesome, which considering that's his weak side make's him even more incredible! I can't wait 'til my download finishes for this!!!

yeah really. the ultra delux edition includes 2 cds, 4 vinyl LPs, a data dvd containing multi-track sessions of all 36 songs, a blue-ray disc w/ high-res audio versions and slideshow, a 48-page book of photography, and two art prints, all of which is contained within 3 hardcover books. and of course its all signed and limited to 2500. anyone who doesnt think all of that is worth $300 is either mentally handicapped, 3rd world country poor, or theyre just a cheapskate who wants everything in life for free.

yeah it's pretty over priced, but new vinyl isn't cheap. depending on what other collectors item's are included i'd say $200 would be a more reasonable price. I can't imagine to many of them would be put out.

Reznor's lyrics have always been hit or miss to me. Some tracks they're dead on, but in others they're almost laughable. It really depends on both the song and how you look at them
