Nirvana Music To Show Up On TV

Nirvana's music will soon begin showing up in commercials and television programs, thanks to Courtney Love's recent decision to sell a portion of the rights to the band's catalog. According to Forbes, four Nirvana songs will be heard in an upcoming episode of "CSI: Miami" for starters.

Love's attorney, Peter Asher, recently told the Chicago Tribune that the licensing of the band's songs was not strictly for financial reasons, explaining, "The decisions we make have nothing to do with money one way or the other. It's a matter of, is this a cool show, is this a movie we'd like to be a part of? If it's a tiny independent movie but it makes sense, we might let them use (a song) for almost nothing."

Love is the widow of Nirvana frontman and principal songwriter Kurt Cobain, who killed himself in April of 1994. There's no word on whether Cobain is rolling in his grave at the latest news.

I have to say a few things on this, but how can you resent becomming famous? So what if Nirvana became big, they were destine to. Things that remain 'underground' are there because the majority of people don't like them. Becomming famous and having demand for what you created isn't a curse, it's a blessing. Kurt Cobain was a genius, but was also a whiney little baby when it comes being out there. He didn't have to release albums, he didn't have to release his music, he didn't have to sign the papers to do all of this. This was his own doing and he needed to take responsibility for his actions. Man up Kurt, if you dind't want the opportunity to be 'big' then you should have stayed at home in your basement and left it as that.

The fact is, some people can tolerate more than what is set as the standard for a lethal dose. I know this from not only personal experience, but have seen it first hand. Everyone has brought up some good points for and against Nirvana's music being on movies or in TV shows. The way I look at it is like this:
More people will be exposed to the music and honestly its the only way to promote music nowadays because MTV and radio only play pop candy and hip hop.
Look, lots of bands have sold their songs to TV shows- Green Day with Time of your Life to Seinfeld, Aerosmith and the Ramones for car ads, the Who for CSI Miami and don't forget- Nirvana's own Dave Grohl sold "Next Year" to a show for CBS that Dave Lettermans company was producing. Plus there are countless other examples but these are off of the top of my head.
Nirvana meant alot to me in the early nineties when I was a teenager.. but at the same time if people hear his songs and get exposed to that kind of music then great because then we would rid ourselves of pop candy music like Fall Out Boy or Britney.
Also just remember lots of bands and artist give their songs and music to movies and tv shows.. Ian McKaye from Minor Threat and Fuguzi liscensed one of this songs for SLC punk back in the day, so lots of good artist with intergity do this kind of thing.
At least I would rather hear Nirvana then crappy songs on TV like the Full House theme or Perfect Strangers.
And finally, I think Courtney is clean now and she has the right to do whatever she wants cuz Kurt made her his heir to his catalog. I do think that Dave and Krist have some say and they probably get a small royalty check for it.
PS: I am not going to talk about Kurts death or why Courtney is "a bitch" because that is off topic and this is about artist having their music heard through other means such as shows and movies as opposed to radio and music channels

I would like to express my opinions in simple points
1.Go to JusticeForKurt.com and get the facts about his murder before rambling on about something you obviously know near nothing about. I studied everything on that website and I agree with saintjimmy99's comments. I don't see how someone could kill themselves after taking 3X the lethal dose for heroin and have the ability to even hold a shotgun. I think he died in a greenhouse like room, but forgive if i'm wrong, have not been to the website in months.
2.Courtney SUCKS! And I think that's being nice.
3.Nirvana didn't like the producing job done on their nevermind album. They were very upset over the polished sound and didn't approve of it at all, but the album was already released before they could change it.Kurt wasn't a sell-out!

First, it was a room above the garage, not the basement. It wasn't sealed, there was just a stool next to one of the doors. Not even in front of it.

And the one fact EVERYONE knows that you can't ignore, is the fact he had a triple-lethal dose of heroin in him. Even the biggest junkie couldn't handle that. He problem couldn't swallow his spit, much less pull a trigger. He was shot and Love injected him to make it look like a suicide. the second half of his suicide note was forged, also.
