After five years, two solo albums, and two babies, Gwen Stefani is finally ready to get back on the road with her No Doubt band-mates.
The band began working on their follow-up to 2001's Rock Steady earlier this year while Stefani was still pregnant with her second child. In a faux instant message conversation posted on the band's website, the group confirmed plans to tour in 2009 and to continue writing the new record on the road.
" I think we should go out now, I don't think we should wait," Gwen writes in the chat. " Pack up the babies and get a bunch of nannies. So fun! Would be so inspiring to get out there and play all those songs again. I think that if we go on tour it will inspire us to write. I need to see the fans out there."
"We can keep writing and recording out there," writes guitarist Tom Dumont. Bassist Tony Kanal replies, "Yeah, totally. I think playing some shows will make the studio time even better. Playing shows, writing songs, kicking ass, ND 2009."
If that's not exciting enough, the band is already confirmed to be headlining day two of The Bamboozle Festival on May 3, 2009 with Fall Out Boy headlining the first night. Two-day and VIP passes are on sale now only on the Bamboozle Festival website and on the Live Nation website. Single day tickets go on sale Friday, November 28 at 10 A.M. and will be available on those sites as well as Ticketmaster or by phone at 866.448.7849.
No word yet on any tour dates other than The Bamboozle Festival.

: I am suprised to her this, since Gwen so successfully transitioned to a mega hot mainstream pop star. I guess the new album will feature Timberland and Snoop Dogg, and be utter drivel.POSTED: 11/25/2008 - 10:57 am / quote |

Perhaps, I heard she was a fan of Two Pack, Ghostface Killer and Exhibit too.
No but really, even though they were awfully poppy they were still a pretty good ska-ish band and I must say I liked most of their singles (especially "Just A Girl" and "Simple Kind of Life"). I hated their last album though (you know, the one with the "Hey Baby" song on it)...POSTED: 11/25/2008 - 01:24 pm / quote |

I actually disagree; many could've said the same of Bowie at some point in the late 80's or late 90's (in fact, many did say as much), but Bowie proved them wrong with his neo-classical period (Omikron OST, the never released Toys album, Heathen, & Reality), showing that sans the heart-attack he experienced, he was quite capable of making quality albums.
I wouldn't be surprised if No Doubt tried to do something neo-classical or retro, as the musical landscape is quite different than that when they released Rocksteady. If they worked a bit at it, they wouldn't have to force themselves to be mainstream in order to be successul (NIN, Radiohead, & the various indie labels that are filling the roles of the previous big 5, which are currently floundering, etc.)
Then again of course, the band could get lazy, but I highly doubt that after such a long hiatus they would phone it in.
I'm surprised no one has thanked the band for not trying to pull double duty while Gwen was doing her solo stuff; the potential for phoning it in with lackluster albums would've been far greater in that case, especially since Gwen was touring for her own solo albums. I would love to see Ghostface on the album haha, that would be crazy. I'm stoked for this though, even if the new music sucks I'd still pay to see them live. POSTED: 11/25/2008 - 06:12 pm / quote |

How can anyone be looking forward to this??
Jeeze as time goes on people really see things with rose coloured glasses.
No doubt has sucked ever since Eric Stefani (main songwriter off tragic kingdom) left the band.
Return of saturn was horrible... Then they put out that hey baby song... Those who didnt give up on them then must be clinicaly insane or have a REALLY shitty taste in music.
Those who still had some hope had surely thrown in the towel after her god awful solo stuff...T
They were my favourite band as a kid too and even saw them play there first headlining show at a small venue with Goldfinger.
But now i couldnt give a shit.POSTED: 12/01/2008 - 06:50 am / quote |
