nice, it would be good to see some of his solo stuff

First!

I swear Noel's been talking about a solo album since he first left the band for 2 weeks back in 1997. In fact, I remember queuing up outside Wembley to see them in 2000 and reading about his solo album where he had about 20 songs "on the shelf." I never understood that analogy for songs seeing as they're intangible. But hey, I was only 15.

Mark my words, Noel will never go solo. But he'll keep talking about it til he dies.

There's a rough demo on youtube and its absolutely stonking.

I love how OTT he is about his songs. If has such "brilliant" songs, why were we subjected to "Mucky Fingers", "Part of the Queue" and "Sitting Here in Silence" on the last outing?
POSTED: 09/19/2008 - 12:33 pm / quote |
STPilots17 :
It won't happen. The others won't have it.

And just for people that think his songs aren't "brillant" need to check out his B-sides. They are better than singles released by most bands and only god knows why they don't ever put them on the albums.

I hope he does do a solo album, he is a good singer, as evident by the fact he had to sing all the songs when Liam refused to take the stage, so we know he can sing. He doesn't get the credit he deserves for doing all the songwriting too, so I would really like to see him do a solo project.

he just loves himself. he fires people if they sit on his chair in the recording studios. total *******, but oasis is the greatest band since the beatles. Liam is the nice one. Liam catches public transport and signs autographs and gets in photos with fans. Noel just abuses people. but he's the greatest songwriter of our time.

Long live King Noel. Best songwriter since Lennon himself. If a solo album is ever released, which I doubt one would be for at least another ten years, I'd bet it be great. I just hope he doesn't save too much for the Oasis albums of the future.

The world needs more musicians like Noel. True Mancunian arrogance. Mad fer it.

No. This is why people love him, it's this attitude that makes nearly everything he says hilarious.

Although to be honest, I can't see a Noel solo record being much different from an oasis record, seeing as he writes the majority of the songs (although I think on the last couple of albums the other members are contributing more and more)

Oasis couldn't exist without either of them. Liam couldn't write songs in the 90s (i.e. when he was writing with Bonehead for The Rain) and Noel didn't have the voice that Liam did (at least during the 90s he didn't. Imagine Noel singing lead on Cigarettes and Alcohol?) Oasis needed the writing of Noel and the vocals of Liam together, in tandem, to make it work.

beatles? talent? charisma?? u kidding me? they could write good songs/lyrics but that's it, musically they are so basic and boring! Not saying oasis are much better but at least liam is an unmistakeable frontman.

be cool to see if it materialises.

The Beatles revolutionised music. To call their music basic and boring is naive and is embarrassing for yourself. Clearly you need to do some more research on the subject of The Beatles. May i recommend purchasing Revolver or Abbey Road before you pass your ladybird knowledge on in future? And as for Liam Gallagher being an unmistakeable frontman. Well, yeah. Most people don't look like a chimp with thinning hair and a gimp leg which makes them waddle when they walk. A poor mans Ian Brown. And he's a ****ing spunk spitter too.

No offense but Ian's become a bit preachy over the years and lost a good bit of swagger. Still puts on an ace show but he really needs to talk to Squire about bringing back The Stone Roses, the world would become a much more better place if The Stone Roses reunited to either tour or even record a new album.
