Noel Gallagher Quits Oasis

Noel Gallagher quit Oasis on August 28.

Following the Manchester band's cancelled show at the Paris Rock en Seine festival this evening, he posted the following statement on Oasisinet.com.

"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight," he wrote. "People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with [singer, his brother] Liam a day longer."

The band pulled out of the Paris show just before they were due onstage, with organisers allegedly displaying a message explaining an "altercation" had caused the cancellation.

Watch Liam Gallagher's recent thoughts on the band at this location.

Thanks for the report to Nme.com.

Been dying for Noel to leave Oasis since I've been wanting Noel to bring out a Solo album. It's sad to see the band go once again, but they'll be back when they want to do another album, I can bet on it.

NOEL IS OASIS.

Oasis had fought with every single band in the planet, had said numerous insulting things about everyone, it was only time they really started a big fight among them, they were the only ones left to argue with, this is no surprise and shoulda happened a lot earlier

I honestly don't care any more, the first two albums were BRILLIANT pop/rock but after that nothing exciting. I'm almost glad they are "breaking up" so I won't have to hear about how they are about to break up for the next ten years.

As for Noel Gaallagher, he should've done it during late 90's. It was time.

come on, he's done this before. if there's one thing you can expect from noel gallagher, it's empty, impulsive threats like this. he and liam will get Oasis back together when they realize that the only way they'll make money is to tour as Oasis. just like richard ashcroft did with the Verve last year.

But the feud between the brothers was well documented. I'm surprised they lasted so long. Who knows, down the road, money has a way of making people get back together!

Noals departure is something great for the future. A solo album of his will be excellent, simply because its noel gallagher. oasis has ended for now but i wreckon one day they will come back. Its a shame it happened because oasis are one of my favouate bands and have seen in manchester. Liam will struggle to write a solo album on his own without gem helping him. so i dont think it wi be s good as noels if they both do make a solo album.

It is very interesting that it took many years after Noel lost his inspiration for him to call it a day, and yet Bono carries on regardless, displaying his eco-credentials by endlessly recycling his material. My favourite U2 track is Bullet the Blue Sky, Bono's contribution to this is awesome.

You know what? Noel Gallagher is probably better off outside of Oasis. I mean, this type of thing has happened so many times. The rumors that Oasis would end and you know what? They end up not quitting, just because they can't exist without each other. Their lyrics are certainly not laudable, on the basis that they're put together to sound good. Unlike Radiohead or the Stone Temple Pilots, Oasis are only credible for so much.

It doesnt matter where the other 2 go, as much as they would be better with Noel, he can find more band members easier than Josh Homme...cue the new Oasis. Although it will probably be called something else. But if he does release anything else I hope to god it doesnt sound anything like Dont Believe The Truth. Now if he and his brother would just go OD on something or finally kill each other, the world will be a better place. Give celebrity status to people that deserve it, not idiots that feud and criticize other bands for being better than them (because they're jealous of those with actual talent that didn't make careers off of horrid music that was clearly a fluke).

Dude... They hate each other, Liam hasn't even seen Noel's year old daughter, his own niece, yet. They stayed working together like Daltrey and Townshend but now its too much for Noel, they wont reform by the end of the week. Shame, and while the last 2 albums were good, they will always suffer because of the first 2. Noel may now write stuff as good as that. Liam's career is over, writing crap like songbird shows that. Oasis without Noel is like a bowl of cereal for breakfast without actually putting the cereal in... IT'S JUST A BOWL OF MILK PEOPLE!!!

haha, it was hilarious at the concert, bloc party was on at the time and kele made sooo much fun of noel and oasis...they started playing the opening chords to wonderwall and such things. Truly a wonderful evening, what with Them Crooked Vultures appearing after...

Oasis would be good without those two twats at the helm. fingers crossed for bono leaving u2.

They wouldn't1 because laim and noel write the songs and noel is the main musical driving force behind the band. The others just do as they are told.

They will be even stronger in a few years! Noel needs to get his solo record out of his system first.

well, i'm glad i saw them live. but i don't think this is forever. i'm pretty sure there will be a comeback. not very soon, but someday

They won't split for that long, they've split a couple of times before, and you have to bear in mind that they have been touring for a pretty long time. Things tend to heat up after such a time with them... Maybe Noel will write a solo album first and then they'll start again, but it's definitely not forever

Seriously who cares? They haven't had a good song since the 90s and they're so overrated it's painful.

Don't see why everyone is bashing Noel. He has the bollocks to say what everyone is thinking.

I just had to fix the wiki page on Noel. Some douchebag changed it to "Oasis sucks". Grow up.

They're one of my favourite bands, so that's too bad. Hopefully, with a permanent end of the band, those two twats can work on repairing their relationship.

(Oasis articles are my favourite because of the high "twat" wordcount count in the comment section)

so basically you're saying that Noel and Liam are a bunch of pussies who can't solve simple problems.

It's the same picture UG always uses, he looks really evil, like he's about to eat the camera guy!

Bono carries on regardless, displaying his eco-credentials by endlessly recycling his material.

That was a funny line!

Oasis split up, really? ¬¬' I hope Noel start a new album in this 'intermediate'.
