Yeah, they posted this information a few days ago in the "Ozzy To Headline Ozzfest 2008" article. But this is still good news. I'm glad ozzy has changed his mind over this because 2 years ago he said this in one of the UG articles: "I don't want to make another Sabbath album, not if it's not up to scratch. I could put any old b**locks out and it would probably sell."
POSTED: 10/12/2007 - 05:35 am / quote |

Yeah. Half of that was posted in the Ozzfest news. But of course I'd like to see another Black Sabbath album with Ozzy.

Sharon "does not get involved in telling me about working."

thought she was his manager.

anyhoo, ozzy's voice is shot, i love sabbath but i'm not sure I want an album of his voice sounding the way it does right now.

Roll On Heaven and Hell nov 6th!

The Sabbath guys really should leave their catalog the way it is. How could a new album possibly live up to expectations. If they want to tour that would be awesome but they would be smart to leave their album legacy intact without some piece of crap they wrote in their geezer years.

Iommi should keep Dio, and Ozzy should either stop making music or get a new guitarist. I love Zakk Wylde but Ozzy's last 2 albums sounded exactly the same. It seems like Zakk holds back with Ozzy and saves all the good stuff for Black Label. The drop-D/pinch harmonic thing is getting old fast.

I really wish Ozzy would make up his mind on doing another Sabbath album. If he knows it won't live up to their legacy, then don't do it and stop telling us that you want to!

+1 its annoying, they do it will all news storys. But on topic i dont think Ozzy has it anymore, singers need to have something about them and he doesnt any more. Plus i got a live album that BS did with Ozzy a few years back and it had 2 new songs by them and i didnt rate it. Heaven and Hell are good and im going to see em but theyre not as good any more. Both bands were good in their day and i like the studio stuff but both arent very good live anymore

Even if it did happen, it wouldn't sound like any of the good, old stuff like Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and Iron Man. They're all old now so it wouldn't be as enrjetic. i'm not saying they're crap though.

Still as energetic as always, even after burnt out on all those drugs lol. I'm proud of him, shows he's still got a strong and able mind and knows what he wants, and knows that his albums aren't no joke, and they need work.

And he's willing to put it in. But that doesn't mean it's what's going to happen. I'm optimistic though.

he's basically just saying the same thing, the only difference is that this time there's more emphasis on the "I'll do the album if it turns out good enough" than on the "I won't do it if it's not up to par"

anyway, great news, old news as they are, I'd love to see a new sabbath or ozzy album

they posted this like yesterday I believe. But it's still pretty good news to hear. I hope the albums a Sabbath album though. I like Ozzy's darker side. But they keep saying it has to be on the same level as they left, I feel that's unobtainable, because they're all at such different points in their lives now.
No drugs
Older
Kids and Wives
They're pretty much set for life with the money they've got.
I mean I totally understand their point about not just putting out another album for the sake of money or just to please people. At the same time though, I hope they aren't looking for this unobtainable album to flow from their veins or something.

I dunno, I saw Sabbath during their 99 Reunion tour, the show sounded like the album, in fact, the set list was the same, I honestly think they lip synch it, or played a loud backing track behind them, I love Sabbath but I think they're done.
A new album might disapoint us all. I mean Never Say Die was no Paranoid, or Vol.4

Zakk holds Ozzy back? You're kidding right? Without Zakk, Ozzy's legacy would have died with Randy. I agree that the latest Ozzy albums, while decent, haven't lived up to No More Tears or most any Black Label album, but that's no fault of Zakk's. First of all, the old man's voice is but a mere shadow of what it once was, pure and simple. Next, there's a lot of stuff that Zakk writes that Ozzy doesn't want anything to do with. For instance, Zakk wrote 1919 Eternal in its entirety intending for it to be the album that would be Ozzy's Down to Earth, but Ozzy didn't want it, stating that it sounded "too Black Label".

I just think Dio's voice is annoying. I prefer Ozzy, old or young (but his voice was better when he was younger and less screwed up from drugs and whatnot). I think it would be cool to see Sabbath with Ozzy again.

first of all if ozzy did an ablum with black sabbath it would be awesome. dio sucks and Sabbath was nothing with him. As for Zakk Wylde he is a great guitarist and he in know way held ozzy back. without him we would not have songs like "Mama I'm Comeing Home" and "Dreamer" but, Zakk Wylde had a problem live he needs to tone down the shreading esspesially in slower melodic songs

Trail-OfDead :

NVM Jake E. Lee....
Friggin' Killer of Giants, Bark At the Moon, Rock N Roll Rebel. Epic songs on great albums that always get overlooked. Randy and Zakk were NOT the only guitar players Ozzy had while solo.
Brad Gillis was also pretty badass but he only played on a live album.

-heartbreaker- :
instrumentally, I'm sure a new Sabbath album would kick ass, Iommi has the best tone ever nowadays
but Ozzys singing would be so digital, and that is HARDLY Sabbath-esque

Zakk holds Ozzy back? ...rant

He was saying that Zakk holds himself back when with Ozzy, and saves his good stuff for BLS, which I agree with. I haven't heard much BLS, but what I have heard is definitely better than most newer Ozzy. And that latest Ozzy song on the radio... holy crap. After listening to the first 40 seconds of it I was thinking, "wow, that boring drop riff got annoying fast... and I think Zakk forgot how to do a pinch harmonic on the other notes..."

I agree with you that maybe the newer bands will check out sabbath's old material, but I don't think black sabbath could do a bad album as long as Iommi is the driving force behind it. If they do another album, hopefully they will go back to their more doomy days. I like their stuff from the eighties but it doesn't compare to their 70's albums. Their early stuff was more slow and heavy. Even if Ozzy's voice isn't as good as it use to be then the album will still be good as long as Iommi can come up with great riffs and if ward and geezer give it their all.

Old news. Waiting since 2001. If one does come out. The music might sound like from the song Who's Fooling Who. from Tony Iommi's first solo album with Ozzy & Bill Ward on it?????(good song). Dio should make friends with Mr. Blackmore.

Does anyone else think that Ozzy was better in Sabbath anyway? Sabbath bloody sabbath is one of the best metal albums of all time, and while zakk is an incredible guitarist, ozzy's new stuff sounds almost identical to every other metal band out there, just way better. We need some sludgy doom stuff, a la iommi, but with ozzy's voice.

Black Sabbath was never the same when Ozzy left.. Would be great with a follow up to Black Rain as well. I found that album great even though many would disagree. Of course its not so good as No More Tears, No Rest For The Wicked (I'm a huge wylde fan) but it's certainly beter than some of the older albums. All Hail The Ozzman

Ugh, it seems like it has become something fashionable to mock dio-era sabbath these days. I don't think the band could have pulled off something like Heaven and Hell had they kept Ozzy in the band. He wouldn't have been able to deliver vocally on a lot of that material. IMO, i would have to say Heaven and Hell is one of Sabbath's better albums. Given the steady decline in the quality of Ozzy's voice since that god awful "Ozzmosis," I think it would be a waste of time for Sabbath to attempt another album with him out front.

if they do decide to make another album, i hope they record it like the old ones, i want raw sound and not the overproduced garbage they're pouring out today. the new white stripes album was recorded like that and it kicks ass.

Ozzy "I'm all washed up"

haha.

Man, he's really fallen from grace as of the past few years. Never really my style but Sabbath was pretty important, and really, Dio is a much better singer, plus Ozzy's voice is awful.

Then again, i don't like his music or Sabbath either, so whatever, just my two cents.

Honestly, who can really say that ozzy can't sing. Thats totally bullshit. Ronni James Dio is a good singer but in my opinion he doesn't have that same personality in his voice(guess a lot of people will disagree, but I give a shit cause that's my opinion). By the way, Heaven and Hell works. I mean, I can listen to it. But compared to Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell is pussyhardrock. Listen to: Black Sabbath, Under the sun, Electric Funeral. Those songs are blody scary. Thats how it should sound

Ozzy is a legend and I agree with new material- not under the Black Sabbath Moniker though..like many have said, he can't match the previous quality, and the decades of drugs and aging have demolished his physical and mental standing. He is entering initial steps of senility and dementia I think based on the latest slew of articles about him.
