Panic! At The Disco Kicks Bassist Off The Band

Former Panic! At The Disco bassist Brent Wilson has begun publicly wondering about the reasons he was recently given the boot from the band, saying that he was coolly cast aside a la Dave Mustaine's exit from Metallica (minus the alcoholism). Wilson claims that he was given his walking papers without any warning, and without so much as an explanation or note of sympathy.

Guitarist Ryan Ross insists that Wilson's departure came after conversations that the band had together. Drummer Spencer Smith, meanwhile, finally gave a public explanation for the dismissal, although it probably wasn't what Wilson wanted to hear. Smith said that the former bassist wasn't progressing musically, wasn't writing his own bass parts, didn't play on the record, and forced the band to dumb down their live versions so he could keep up.

The 18-year-old bassist guesses that he'll miss out on about $50,000 in income from the remainder of the band's tour, although Smith disagrees with this assessment, too, saying that the band will just break even because of high production costs. Moreover, Panic! will "never make any decisions...based on money," said Smith.

"I never thought my best friends would do this to me," said Wilson, whose despair initially caused some sympathetic uproar on the Panic! message boards, although the general mood has now progressed to "life goes on."

wow...that kinda shit sucks...but how difficult is it to freakin' play a bass guitar. I've played electric for a year now. and whenever I pick up my friend's bass, I play alright. So for him to have this much fame and not progress it completely his fault. Still...these guys are his friends so they should have helped him a little more than it looks like they did.

nah, i have seen them live and they rocked and rolled. but i also saw them on lettermen and he could barely sing. Looked scared out of his mind. haha. it happens to the best and the worst of us...depending on how much you love or hate PTAD.

The only musician in the band that has talent is their keyboardist. The rest suck/are subpar. They really should've kicked everyone out except him.

but only if its true. if they just made that up as an excuse because they were having problems or something, that thats pretty bad, because it would probably ruin the rest of his career. Even though this band really is so bad it probably was better for him to leave.

The people from Be Your Own Pet are pretty young too, and they're a whole lot better then Panic at the disco.

FOB sux ill give you that but i think these guys are ok not anywhere near the best but i think its harsh that they did this to the bass player. how do they know hes not progressing hes 18 hes learning give him time if they feel hes that much of a friend

Panic is a good band. The 2 guitarists (or should I saw the bass player and the...rhythm guitarist?) aren't very good but the singer and the drummer have some talent. For those of you who think they suck can go start your own band if you think they suck so much. I want to see YOU got out there and make a cd that sells more than this.
