Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament was reportedly the victim of a robbery that turned violent outside of the Southern Tracks Recording studios in Atlanta, GA where Pearl Jam is currently working on their ninth studio album, reports Rolling Stone.
According to police reports, Ament arrived at the rear entrance of the studio with a band employee late last month when three men dressed in black emerged from the woods with knives in hand. They reportedly smashed the window of a rented jeep, stole a blackberry, and then demanded more money. Ament is said to have lost $3,000 in cash and $4,320 in other goods.
Ament was chased and knocked to the ground where he received a cut on the head. The assailants then escaped in a waiting black Nissan Maxima. The attack was all captured on a surveillance camera but so far no arrests have been made. The men also appear to have stolen
Ament’s passport.
The band has declined to comment on the robbery. They are still working on their new record which is being helmed by producer Brendan O’Brien. They are currently booked to headline both the Outside Lands Festival and Austin City Limits Festival as well as two shows in late August.
