Former Phish star Trey Anastasio has pleaded not guilty to a drug possession charge in a Whitehall, New York court, reports PR Inside.
The rocker was arraigned on misdemeanour charges of drug possession and driving under the influence of drugs yesterday (01/04), following his arrest last month (read story on UG).
Police spotted Anastasio's vehicle weaving across a rural road and pulled him over. During a quick search of his car, they found quantities of prescription painkillers and an anti-anxiety drug that had not been prescribed for Anastasio.
Anastasio was not scheduled to appear in court until 01/10 and showed up in court unannounced. He is due back in court on 02/14.
Following his arrest, the rocker released a statement apologising for his arrest.
He wrote, "I am deeply sorry for any embarrassment I have caused my friends, family and fans."
