Plus-44 Still Together

Addressing rumours that his Plus-44 project had split up, frontman Mark Hoppus has updated his blog with indications that the band will in fact be recording a second album. The band, which also features members of the Mercy Killers, has resigned with Interscope Records and Mark adds:

"Here’s a photo from yesterday of me signing on the contract with interscope records for us to record the next +44 album. Now everyone else is signing it, and it’ll be all set and going. Hopefully this will put any “band break up” rumors to rest.

"We are all coming back together to do what we all truly love: playing as a band. Right now we’re in the process of writing and recording songs that will develop into an album. We’re not rushing it, and we’re not lagging. We’re making an album."

The band, which includes two-thirds of Blink-182 released When Your Heart Stops Beating last year.

quite honestly i think both AVA and +44 suck, AVA cos they barely sound anywhere near rock more pop, and +44 cos theyre bland and are just a half-assed attempt at bringing back the half-decent sound of blink, which annoys me cos blink werent as repetitive as some of the pop-punks band that are around now (coughs) simple plan (coughs) sorry i got somethin in my thraot.....lies i just had to mention them cos theyre returning ughhhhh

Good news I guess, but if the headline had read +44 have split up due to Blink reunion, I would be a lot happier. Ive recently got back into their last CD and its amazed me that the band who wrote Happy Holidays You Bastard, could have come up with some of the darker songs on Blink 182 like Asthenia and Stockholm Syndrome. Oh well, I guess I'll continue to keep my hopes up for a reunion, but for the record, its Blink > +44 > AVA in my opinion.

True it should be.
I think if +44 carry on making tunes like those on WYHSB then they're going to become better than Blink in my opinion.
In other words Blink to me are only really better right now because they have more songs (good and bad) to their name, they don't necessarily have a better ratio of good:bad songs than +44.
+44 are quality, I'd rather they stay together than Blink reunite, Hoppus is worth more to any band than DeLonge.

I don't know if you're still in high school or not, but hopefully someday you can see the world without your high school goggles on. I was just commenting on the irony/pointlessness of the article. Also, jocks can play guitar too. You don't have to be a wuss in order to play a G chord. You're probably one of those tools that thinks creativity comes from being in pain or on drugs or something. In fact, physical fitness is really important to musicianship. Ask any long time musician. Also, Brian Wilson was working on an entire album about the importance of physical fitness in the 60's. Never finished it, though, cuz he was too f'd up on drugs.

Okay, first, "guitar jock" was an analogy. Perhaps not a good one, but hey, it's been a long day. No, I'm not in high school, haven't been for years. The reason I referenced high school was because, thankfully, that was the last time I had to interact with jocks against my will. Being out of there, I've avoided every possible situation where I've had to interact with them.
You know, though, I don't owe you ny explanation for one reason: you lambast me for throwing names around, and then turn the hypocrisy up to eleven by stating "You're probably one of those tools that thinks creativity comes from being in pain or on drugs or something." No, no I don't. Drugs are stupid. I don't need marijuana or crack or whatever to feel "high." I'm fine with being drug-free. And why anyone would focus all of their creativity on pain is foreign to me.
I'm more than aware that being physically fit is important. It doesn't take running a mile or going to the gym every day to do that. But I never said a jock can't play guitar.
The point is, it's irritating to come on here and see points such as "+44 sucks," or "If you have to make an announcement that your band is "still together," it's because nobody cares." If you don't like a band, why are you wasting my and your time posting on them?

Nice assumptions. Let me point out that I've been playing guitar for six years, I play mostly in standard tuning--so much for "detuned one finger power chords." Thanks for assuming that just because I listen to +44, my musical range is stuck in that genre. Well, you're wrong.

(+44) are a great band, as are Angels and Airwaves. every single musician in each of the 2 bands are very talented and creative. Angels and Airwaves have a very unique sound, and Tom is great at coming up with deep and meaningful lyrics. As is Mark with (+44). It is just a shame that alot of people hold grudges against both bands because of the blink-182 break up...

blink-182 will return.

Yeah..well I think everyone should wait a little while until AVA and +44 get a little farther along before we start judging them ya know? Like to the point where they have as many albums released as blink did so we can kinda have a say in which of the albums we did and didn't like, cuz you gotta admit that Cheshire Cat and the untitled album sounded WAY different so maybe the same thing will happen with When Your Heart Stops Beating and the new album and We Don't Need To Whisper and the newer albums yet to be created by AVA..well that's just what I think..don't bash me cuz of it. Also does anyone else wish they coulda seen what BCR woulda been like if they were still around?
