Quentin Tarantino To Direct Jimi Hendrix Biopic

According to Starpulse.com, Quentin Tarantino has reportedly signed on to direct the long-awaited Jimi Hendrix biopic. The movie maker is huge fan of the script of the film, according to producers at Dragonslayer Films, and will team up with Hendrix's brother Leon to tell the story of the guitar great's life.

Tarantino will have full access to Hendrix's music and likeness when he starts shooting is scheduled to begin later this year in Seattle, Washington; New York, Toronto, Canada; and London.

Senior executive producer Elle Von Lear has access to interviews and live footage of the rock legend, which will be incorporated in the film.

Thats a retarted statement, you have to see the big picture man. Even though I'm a big fan of shred and neoclassical virutosos and Rhoads the god himself but Hendrix brought guitar playing into a whole new light. Before Hendrix most people saw the guitar as just a backup instrument in the band and of a role not highly important. Hendrix changed everyones perception with that and started the musical revolution where the guitar seen as the main sound of a band. So basically without Hendrix ALL genres derived from Rock and Roll would be entirely different.

With that said though I agree that he is mentioned way to much but often for the wrong reasons because most people think ignorantly that he was the best player that ever lived in the sense of technique. Where as he couldn't shred like a robot he could still do things with a guitar that are inovative even to this day.

Quentin is a two bit director, he has made a few movies, then he puts his name on other like Hostel and Hero, he had nothing to do with them he just presented them. He was an artist that happened to play guitar. He would have revolutionized music no matter what instrument he played. Hendrix was above and beyond the guitar sport we call shred.

Granted I agree with almsot everything stated here, I don't actually think Hendrix MADE the guitar a lead instrument... I think Charlie Christian started that, and then the blues (King, Waters, etc.) and then Chuck Berry and eventually Hendrix. What Hendrix did was revolutionize the sound of the instrument and how it was played. His take on distortion changed the entire rock scene.

exactly, i am not saying he sucks at all. I actually like some of his music but everytime you see a top 100 guiatrists of all time he is always placed first or second usually stated the best guitarist of all time. Come on thats ridiculous he is no where close to that. yes he was innovative but i think tom morello is more innovative then he ever was. Jimi simply palyed easy blues scales all of the time which he was great at but blues scales are by far some of the easiest to play. up against the likes of randy rhoads, evh, jimmy page, dime etc. jimi is just an average player who had good stage presence.

Anyone who thinks Hendrix was simply feedback, distortion, blues scales and stage presence has never actually listened and probably can't play either.

i do and don't agree with what people are saying about randy rhodes. sure he might of been a faster guitar playing but that doesn't mean he was better. and he is not over rated. he probably knows more about what a guitar can do and its limitations. and know i don't think metal guitarists like randy rhodes are faster because they usually play the same fast lick over and over and once you get it down its not hard. the only person i thik can come close to jimi is stevie ray vaughan because he idolized him. he can play third stone from the sun just like hendrix. so you can't really say these people are better than hendrix unless you know what you're talking about.
