English rock band Radiohead will perform its new album, "In Rainbows," in its entirety during a pre-taped, hour-long set that will premiere New Year's Eve on TV and the Internet.
The event will air on Current TV and Current.com starting 12 a.m. EST on December 31, and will repeat three times throughout the next day.
Radiohead hosted one such Webcast in early November, during which the band played new material as well as such covers as the Smiths' "The Headmaster Ritual," Bjork's "Unravel" and New Order's "Ceremony."
The "In Rainbows" CD will go on sale in stores next week. It was first made available a few months ago, when fans could download it from the Web for a price of their own choosing.

Anyway, I might watch this (if I manage to get out of bed during the course of January 1st that is): I didn't like the idea of watching live gigs on some website with advertisements popping up everywhere, but ever since I saw Pearl Jam's webcast on Letterman's site I was hooked to these things!POSTED: 12/27/2007 - 09:39 am / quote |

: well Joy division never recorded "Ceremony" cause Ian Curtis killed himself, they have a live version I think. "Ceremony" is one of the best songs I've ever heard though.POSTED: 01/03/2008 - 06:00 pm / quote |

: I am a huge Radiohead fan and even though the music was vert creative and original I personally thought that alot of the tunes (aside from the field scene which was hauntingly brilliant) sounded kinda the same...Am I the only one that thinks this?POSTED: 01/03/2008 - 10:09 pm / quote |
ragepoppa
: oops....typo...I meant "very" creative not "vert"...what a dummy. I shouldn't say alot of the songs sounded the same but there were probably 4 or 5 tunes on there that could have blended right into each other.POSTED: 01/03/2008 - 10:13 pm / quote |

Very few bands have ever changed style that much in the span of their career. It might not be your taste (that's understandable, nobody can like everything) but the degree of technical difficulty is huge on their later albums compared to that on Pablo Honey. Simply put, "Creep" is based around arpeggios of a few chords, whereas their later stuff is so much more.POSTED: 01/03/2008 - 10:30 pm / quote |

In the use of synth and strings on the later songs on the album, there are some similarities. That's kind of the beauty of it though, it all flows through. Then again listen to "15 Step", "Bodysnatchers", "Nude" and "Videotape" - all totally different, totally beautiful.POSTED: 01/03/2008 - 10:33 pm / quote |
