After last week’s cancellation of the band’s surprise performance in front of the Republican National Convention in Minnesota, many fans left wondering if the band would still be able to play their show scheduled at the Target Center the following night. Well luckily the band performed as intended, but not without a surprise for those in attendance.
Midway through their set the band unveiled a new song about the people of New Orleans during the devastating Hurricane Katrina. The song was reportedly mellower than is usual from the band, but still displayed guitarist
Tom Morello’s love of effects pedals. This only fueled rumors that the band is working on new material for a new record.
Rage Against The Machine broke up in 2000 due to internal conflicts. Since then vocalist Zach De La Rocha went on to pursue solo activities and recorded an EP with former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore under the pseudonym “One Day As A Lion”. Meanwhile the rest of the band joined up with Chris Cornell to form the equally short-lived Audioslave. After the break-up of Audioslave in 2007, the band reunited to continue touring and have been dodging rumors of a new album ever since.

Really want to hear this song.
