Razorlight Frontman Lost Guitar

British rockers Razorlight's US tour has started badly - frontman Johnny Borrell lost his guitar on the flight from his native England.

Due to new security measures imposed following a terrorist alert earlier this month, musicians are being forced to put their instruments in the airplane holds instead of carrying them as hand luggage.

When Borrell tried to pick up his one-of-a kind guitar after arriving in New York it had disappeared. It's the second blow for the Razorlight; they were due to tour the US with fellow Brits Keane, but the latter pulled out after singer Tom Chaplin was admitted to rehabilitation for drug and alcohol problems.

Borrell says, "So there's that (Keane pulling out). Plus, somebody lost my guitar at the airport today. It's the only one in the world like it. So as you can tell, there's a few things still up in the air."

Razorlight admit they may be forced to cancel some of their planned joint dates with Keane.

I really feel for him, I love my guitar and I would be extremely angry if it was lost or stolen.

But on the other hand... he's actually considering cancelling the band's tour dates because he lost his guitar? Oh give me a break. I don't care how rare it is, a guitar can be replaced, and if you're a true guitarist, you can play on almost any guitar.

NME said that they are cancelling the tour based on Keane pulling out, as they were the support band. Instead they are going to be headlining their own tour.

That must definitely suck to loose a one-of-a-kind instrument, but I'm sure they could still be able to play. I'm not even sure I've ever heard of Razorlight. What do they sound like?

i doubt it was stolen, the airport staff just lost it. They probably put it on another plane or something stupid, something thats typical of airport staff lol.

kind of stupid that they wouldnt let a guy take a guitar on a plane...but guess it makes sense since the band sucks so no one would recognize him, so its his own damn fault his guitar was lost, if his band didnt suck it wouldnt happen

as my dad says, a true musician should be able to make any properly functional instrument sound good

Whether you like him and his band or not, it would suck to lose your guitar, especially your favorite. Stop trying to make it sound like it shouldn't be a big deal to the guy, because I'm willing to bet that it would be to you. I do admit however that this is an odd choice for news, but meh.

airport security is so bullshit now. i had a friend who wasnt aloud to take toothpaste, water, or any other liquids or gels as carry ones, and then another friend who bought an axe for a camping trip, brouight it as carry-on and no one said a word

Only 75 of my guitar were made, and if i lost mine id flip out. I cant imagine what it would be like to loose a one of a kind guitar.

I have a solution, if it's that important don't bring it. We all know airports lose baggage all the time, it's inevitable with how much they have to process everyday. And I don't want to see any comments about sounding like the record live, because if I wanted a band to sound exactly like they do live I would stay at home and listen to their CD.

I think it was an original melody maker (not one of the shitty new ones)
its the same model carl barat out of dirty pretty things and that guy out of primal scream plays
so it isn't one of a kind but it is pretty rare
