RHCP: 'Stadium Arcadium' Leaked

The new Red Hot Chili Peppers' album, Stadium Arcadium, a year and a half in the making, has been leaked on the internet. The day that word of this got to the Chili Peppers, Flea responded with the following statements:

"The thing that really bums me out is we worked so hard, and so thoughtfully, all of us, for so long to make this record sound as warm and full from top to bottom as was possible. We spent day and night for a year making sure every little sound was just right, that they were all put together in the most beautiful way we could. We did not leave a stone unturned in doing that work. I can not put in words how much this record, stadium arcadium, means to us, how sacred the sound of it is to us, and how many sleepless nights and hardworking days we all had thinking about how to make it be the best sounding thing we could. And now, for someone to take it and put it out there with this poor sound quality, it is a painful pill for us to swallow."

The double disc, 28 track record will officially be released in the U.S. on May 9th.

You tool. Music sharing (burning it onto a disc and giving it to your friend) is a great way for people to get into bands. Hell, it's been around since way before music downloading.

I'll admit, I downloaded the album about a week ago. I was contemplating buying it, but as it is a double CD, it will be more expensive, and I don't like absolutely everything by the Chili Peppers, so I won't blindly pay all that money for it. I was interested to hear it though, and now I'm quite sure I will be buying it on the release date.

They said they were going back to their roots with this album and there are only 4 songs that sound romotely classic chilis. They make their money by selling cds and doing tours. That is how they make a living. For example if you sold.... hotdogs i guess. If you sold hotdogs than thats how you make your money. For the people who download to see if they are gonna buy it: You can't go to a store and just take something for free, see if it works, and if you like it, go back and buy it. I did download it.

RHCP is my favorite band, and I know a lot of people are saying they're being a "good fan" by not downloading it.

I had originally planned to not download it, but then I saw it there and there was no way I could've just said, "Oh, there it is, I could listen to it now...but I'll just wait a week or so".

I pretty much freaked out and had to listen to it right away.

I'll still definately buy the album.

The best musical albums are the ones that you don't understand at first, you listen to it and you have a general perspective, and it might not appeal to you at first. But eventually, it just hits you emotionally and you need to absorb it and take it in, and it becomes amazing to you.

Now with that being said, Stadium Arcadium is definately one of those albums for me, I do think it's better than Blood Sugar Sex Magik(my previous favorite), and it's definately my favorite album of all time.

1. like it really matters, im sure the millions of sales they're still gonna get is more than a consolation for people downloading the album.

2. if you knew anything about downloading or the softwares used to download, you'll find that you can find out how good the quality of the songs/albums are. the album i downloaded sounds the exact same as the cd, and im not bullsh*ttin, your just trying to sound different, stop being ignorant.

thats the stupidest analogy I have ever heard. I would gladly buy Cds of all my favorite artists, but unfortunately I don't have $15 to just shell out for a CD with a couple songs I like. If CD's weren't so horribly overpriced, it wouldn't be such a big deal. Sure, I have a lot of music downloaded and it doesn't really bother me. I like this album and I respect the RCHP a lot, I think John Frusciante is a class A+ guitarists and I think he's pretty much amazing. I'm going to go buy the album, but buying an album from some band that isn't as good as RHCP isn't worth it. Downloading is illegal when you apply your real life morals to it - but this is the Internet. In case you haven't noticed, normal rules don't really apply here.

and i have thought about how downloading is wrong and i decided that i am not going to download ever again, becuz you can whine and bitch about how much money they have but you have to look at this in an artistic way....if you burned an album and didnt buy the actual cd, thats like copying a painting off of a scanner and saying that its the original...its just not the same

i think the same thing about downloading... i used to download to hear a few songs before i bought the entire album, but now with myspace, bandspace, purevolume, vh1, mtv, etc with streaming music, i can preview the real version for free

Also, it's important to remember that almost every band makes more money off of touring and concerts than off of record sales.

It's mostly record companies that get profits from the sale of CD's; to support a band truly, you've gotta attend their concerts!

Mp3 is a lossy format. Unless you downloaded an ISO or a pack of .wav files, the song will not be of CD quality. Most people won't even notice it, but an audiophile can easily pick an mp3 out through a good stereo.

Personally, I downloaded the CD because I couldn't wait. I'll buy it when it comes out because it's worth a purchase. The first disc alone is worth the price - I haven't even listened to disc 2 yet.

CD's need to be shipped/delivered for the release dates and sent to reviewers etc. I'm sure all some one in the delivery process needs to do is open up on cd and rip it to the computer.

I was told of this news the other day when some one greated me saying they downloaded the new Red Hot Chili Peppers CD and telling me how much I liked it. I could not be happy for them or talk to them about it because I thought it was wrong. If he likes them so much then he needs to invest in the CD and spend money so that the band can keep making fantastic records.

I agree a small amount of file sharing, streaming singles etc. are good ways to find about new music. In some ways the internet has helped music sales and new artists by allowing there music to be found but in others it has hindered it where people can just download full albums.

This guy is one of the reasons people moan about file-sharing. I download a few songs "Oh this band is good" then delete and buy the cd. It saved me wasting £15 on the Angels and Airwaves album. But I buy the albums,not sit with some cheap copy.

Those of you that have downloaded the album should be ashamed of yourself and even more so by stating that you have here. Flea is a very brillant and gets his music from his soul, so deep down that the music is him in a sense, the same with all of them, for that bit of their soul to be stolen and listened to by those that downloaded that album would shatter them. How would you feel if I came up to you when you jsut finished your album and burnt it and gave it to all my friends so they don't have to buy the new album and then they went on to sell hundreds of copies at markets making money of your creation for which you get nothing of in the proccess. They still need money to live, they might be muliti-millionares but have a think about this, after a tour the chili's themself only get 5-10% of the profit. a tonne of the profit goes to lawyers and the labell and their agent and manager and also 5% goes to a charity. They get squat compared to other artists who have made music a commericalised peice of shit. The level that the chili's write on is light years ahead of the majority of populat music on the charts today/ Go read Scar Tissue you whiny bitches who reckon they have to sample some music before they buy it in the form of downloading it illegally. The majority of major musicians make a HUGE chunk of they're money from ticket sales and merchandise sales. I believe, But dont quote me on this because i may be wrong (i am only human), that the artist takes home ten percent of the sum of money that the RECORD COMPANY makes off sales of the cd. The cd's are just a way for the artist to spread the music and get it to fans. Thats right, your not really paying for the music, your paying for the physical album and the work that went into printing and processing. However, in the artist defense, downloading does harm them in a way. You wanna go platinum or multiplatinum. Well you can only reach that through a certain number of sales and other figures. But i beleive that number should also include tickets sold to events. I cant stress the matter anymore, just let people listen and obtain music however they feel. Music is about love to musicians, no matter how heavy and aggressive it is. There is nothing to be said anymore about this matter. Thank you and goodbye, i hope this just calms everybody down. 2. A 128 kb/s WMA-file is very good quality, and with today's modern rippingequipment, you barely notice any difference.

I haven't downloaded it, but I probably will. On the one hand, it sucks for them, on the other hand, they're all millionairs. I find it hard to sympothise with them. Especially in this case. Some albums get leaked WAYYY before they hit the shelves. I remember downloading the Oasis album last year more than a month before it came out.

So yeah, I'll probably give it a download, to see what all the fuss is about. Wasn't planning on buying it, anyway, but if I like it enough, I just might. I hardly like any new music these days though, so I feel asif I HAVE TO 'try before I buy'. I'm sure glad I didn't buy that Oasis album, for example. Mediocre at best.

i bought the special edition for $50 bucks and wow, this album is so awesome. im chili peppers to the death and im not just saying this because its the new album, but this album could very well be their best. they blend so much funk and so much of the melodic crap in here thats its so beautiful and sublime.

now about downloading. to people that said, i'll just download a few then delete them when i get the cd. thats bull. someone mentioned myspace and purevolume earlier, and i agree that if you want the preview, go to one of those sites. but don't download the whole cd man. thats just really lame. i mean, i totally can understand where flea is coming from. i would want people to hear the real deal too. it just makes more sense. but i also had thoughts about downloading it myself. and i don't agree with people here that are like "YOU DOWNLOADED?!
