Robert Palmer To Be Buried In Switzerland

Robert Palmer will be buried in Switzerland rather than his birthplace England.

The rock star died of a heart attack last Friday in Paris but had been living in Switzerland for the last 16 years. He was with his partner of 20 years, Mary Ambrose, when he had the heart attack while holidaying in the French capital after filming a television special in London to promote his new album.

Palmer will be buried in the town he had lived in for the last 16 years, Lugano. His partners Les and Ann Palmer are in Switzerland making arrangements for the funeral. Robert also had two children, including a 22 year old daughter, Jane.

Palmer called Lugano the first home he had ever had said his manager Nick Cater. His father was in the British navy and constantly moving the family. Robert grew up mainly in Malta.

The singer's death was sudden and unexpected. Only weeks earlier he was given a full medical checkup and told he was in perfect health.

There was also no indication there was anything wrong last Thursday night. Robert and Mary had stopped in Paris after completing work in England and were having a few quiet nights before heading home to Switzerland. The night before he died, they had a quiet dinner and then went and saw a movie.

News of the death of the two time Grammy winner has shocked the music industry. Palmer was just 54.

Your article is incorrect. Mary Ambrose was not Robert Palmer's companion for twenty years. I don't know where you got your information, but it is completely wrong. Robert Palmer was married to Susan Palmer from 1980 to 1999. As earlier noted Geraldine Edwards was his girlfriend from 1999 to Robert's death. Mary Ambrose did date Robert from 2000 to 2003. FYI Mary Ambrose was born on June 9, 1977. She was twenty six years old at the time of Robert Palmer's death. Do you know how I know when Mary's birthday was? Through her father. Do you think Mary's father might know when her birthday was? I hope so. Mary was not six years old when Robert met her and she was not living with him as an adolescent while he was married to Susan Palmer. Robert Palmer was not spending "a few quiet nights together" in Paris with Mary Ambrose when he died. He was vacationing for the week with Jack Bruce. Get your act together. If you want to pretend that you are able to write articles please get at least fifty percent of the information correct. If you did not know already, your site is a laughingstock. I was a friend of Robert Palmer's since 1972. We were friends until his death. Robert died of a Myocardial Infraction. Prior to that he was being treated for Hypertension, which he was diagnosed with in 2002. Robert was far from being in "perfect health." Hypertension is a serious medical condition that can lead to death. Robert was not in England with Mary Ambrose prior to his death, he was in England with his girlfriend Geraldine Edwards. Geraldine had to return to America over business commitments, and Robert proceeded to Paris, where Jack Bruce met him. They were planning on spending some well deserved time-off together. Mary Ambrose was not in Paris with Robert Palmer at the time of his death. Mary Ambrose was not Robert's companion for twenty years. Robert was married to Susan Palmer until 1999, and after his divorce from Susan, started dating Geraldine Edwards, whom he was close to since 1976, when he first met her. Robert and Geraldine were planning on moving to Los Angeles together before his death. They were looking at homes together there. Mary Ambrose was Robert's live-in housekeeper and personal assistant from 2000 to 2003. Robert started casually dating Mary in 2000 when she first became employed by him, but by no means was she his girlfriend. Mary even had two children, both sons, by friends of Robert's, born in 2001 and 2002. Both men were married. Robert had his last child in 1981 and after that underwent a vasectomy. Mary Ambrose was twenty-six years old at the time of Robert's death. And I am sorry to report, but Robert is buried in London, England, at the request of his family. The location of his burial site is confidential. Although Robert loved Switzerland, I never recalled Robert referring to it as "the only home that he ever had." That is just ridiculous. Robert moved to Switzerland for Income Tax purposes to be perfectly honest with you. May Robert RIP.

My name is Michael Ambrose. I am the brother of Mary Ambrose, who you write about in this article. I am afraid that is not the case. Mary met Robert in late 1995 at a party given by one of our neighbors in Coronado, California. Mary was very excited about meeting Palmer, and she made it her point to become friendly with others who were friends of Palmer's that she met at the same party she met him at. She was very interested in staying in Robert Palmer's limelight in any way she could. Her plan worked because in 1996 a couple who knew Palmer well hired Mary as their live-in Au Pair. She worked for them till 2000. Mary got to know Robert a little bit better when some of his friends asked him to allow Mary to contribute backing vocals on his 1999 Rhythm & Blues album. Shortly after his divorce from his second wife, Susan, he hired Mary in 2000 as his live-in Estate Manager and Personal Assistant. I know some people do not want to believe what I am saying, but this is the truth. I am her only brother and sibling and I know this to be a fact. Robert Palmer started dating my sister at that time, and he continued to do so until early 2003, when he did end their relationship. By way of explanation, although Mary resided with Palmer from 2000 onwards, he always provided her with her own quarters, which happened to be a wing in each of his two homes. To be precise, Mary and Robert were never exclusive with one another. The entire time that they were living in the same home and dating, and that is all it was, dating, Robert was seeing a steady girlfriend who had been in his life since his divorce from his second wife. And, from time to time he dated others. There was no crime in this because the man was not married. I had no truck with him. I met him on two occasions and I found him to be cordial and intelligent. Mary herself had two children with friends of Robert Palmer's while she was living with him, my two nephews. Mary dated, but continued to date Palmer. I will not lie. Mary was hoping that he was going to propose to her at some point. It did not happen. When he broke up with her in early 2003 he had allowed her to keep working for him until she could find other sustainable employment due to the fact that she did have two sons with friends of his. He was a gentleman about it. Mary was milking out the situation in the hopes that Palmer would change his mind and want to resume the relationship. She was unsuccessful in this regard. My parents were making plans to welcome Mary and their grandchildren into household. They were crazy about them. They have both passed away since, God rest their souls. When Robert Palmer did die, Mary called me and other family members from Lugano, Switzerland to tell us. She was not in Paris with him. And she had never spent any time with him in England. By the time of their 2003 break-up she was not travelling with him. I lot of nonsense was written about my sister after Robert Palmer's death, none of it reflecting the truth. Part of this was Mary's fault. She wanted to change her background altogether, which really disturbed her family. She billed herself as thirty-six years old to the press when she was twenty-six years old. She had decided also that she had met Robert Palmer in San Francisco in the early nineties while working as a waitress. Somehow this suited her. In fact, Mary was born and raised in San Diego, and in the early nineties was living at home with my mother, father and myself. Two articles wrote that she was living with Robert Palmer in Switzerland in 1993. Wrong. Mary was attending High School in Coronado in 1993. And the list of errors went on and on at Mary's request. I have to say here that the three writers that wrote articles on Mary's behalf were known to her personally before Robert Palmer's death. She was promising these people an opportunity to interview Palmer and they stayed in contact with her. She mentioned their names more than once and me and my father, who worked in media knew what happened when we saw their names on the bylines. Just helping my sister out. This backfired when Robert Palmer's family and Mary's famiy confronted these writers. One writer posted an interview where Robert Palmer was talking about my sister and backdated it to 1994. I wrote this man and asked him how Palmer could have been speaking about someone he had not yet met, and the man sent me a curt response, containing words that I can not type here. The entire situation was a nightmare for both families. Mary is not doing so well now, and I have custody of her children. I really do feel that those people who helped to enable her, and that includes the writers of the aforementioned articles, did not help her. My niece was born in June of 1977, making her six years old when she first started dating Robert Palmer. I really don't think so. Mary dated Robert Palmer from 2000 to early 2003, when Robert Palmer ended his working and personal relationship with Mary, who did work as his estate manager and personal assistant for the same amount of time that she dated him. Their relationship ended badly I am sorry to say, in addition to which Robert Palmer had become engaged to his girlfriend, Geraldine Edwards, who was in obvious evidence the entire time Mary was dating Robert Palmer. Robert Palmer's and Mary's dating relationship was never exclusive, and my niece had two children, both sons, born in 2001 and 2002. Her first child was from Robert Palmer's manager, Mick Carter, who the family met, and the second child was from a friend of Robert Palmer's by the name of Christian Charmoux, who the family never met. Mary was returning home to Coronado, California, to move in with her parents as her work visa in Switzerland had been revoked. She was being compelled to leave the country, per law. My sister told me that Mary was coming home in October of 2003 with her two grandsons, and she was looking forward to having her back. She was very fond of her grandsons and told me that she did not get to see them enough. And no, Mary was not in Paris with Robert Palmer when he died. She called my son Ethan, my dauthter Elizabeth, and myself from Lugano, Switzerland to tell us of Robert Palmer's death, where she was making final arrangements to return to Coronado, California to take up residence. Later, my niece filed a number of lawsuits against the Estate of Robert Palmer where she did not prevail. The phone calls made by Mary to myself, my son and daughter, and her brother directly after Robert Palmer's death were traced back to Lugano, Switzerland as part of the court proceedings. Mary had tried to represent to the court that she was literally with Robert Palmer in Paris at the time of his death, which was not true. As I said earlier, she lost all of the lawsuits she brought against Robert Palmer's estate, and untimately, she did return home to Coronado by December of 2003. Michael, my nephew and Mary's brother, has also written in here. What he has said about his sister is truthful. I hoped this has cleared up some confusion of what has been written about Mary.
